I had this problem in the uk yesterday.kept telling me to use nokia software updater.then when i got home, installed that on my pc and tried that it told me i had the latest update. the solution was to use the phones backup utility and make a backup of all apps and settings, then let the software updater re-install the current(1.1.1) version. after it has done that, go to app manager on phone and the pr1.2 will work. once this has finished you can then restore the backup you made using the backup utility on the n900

I'm a newbie so please give me a break...
I'm trying to install the new update from applications manager, but it keeps telling me i don't have enough memory in the target location. i've checked my memory and i have more than enough space. any suggestions as to how to get around this?

well the update size is 187.9 MB ...compared more to the UK OTA update of 113.6 MB!!!

The main reason it wa not working was because certain apps had dependencies, which relied on other things downloaded so the app manager didn't like it. Rootfs need only to be about early 50's.
The apps that looked like they caused a problem for me were tuxpaint, brain party, and extra decoders support.
You could try making a backup then delete loads of stuff until it works with the update, then when update works just restore your apps again.
PS the update will actualluy free up loads of root space too once it has finished..

Hey....Now I am Done with the UPDATE through NSU......The PHONE is back to Stone age Specs and Default setting.....
I am Restoring the backup i took....Now THE PROBLEM Is...Communication and Calendar has some issue with replacing few files...Saying"That some backup file restored is Older than whats present In the new update" STRANGEEEEEE...I said NO for replace...and the restoraton has gone slow.......damn what is this all about!!!

i cannot install 1.2 over the air ... i get a message that i need to do it with the pc.
i see some apps could be the cause for that
any idea what apps should cause this? i keep uninstalling things but nothing
and i don,t want to flash and install manually the firmware
