Hello everybody.
This is my first post ever, but I've been following this site since the N900 was announced.
Here is my problem:
When I tried to update the N900 by NSU after the download is complete and it starts to update my N900 is freeze after the first reboot, it freezes in the loading black screen then NSU shows "Update failed" Reason: phone is off
I've read several threads about PR 1.2 update problems and I did some solutions such as: I uninstall Brain Party and Countdown, I charged 100% battery (yes, I know this is obvious ) but my problems persists

Sorry if my english is not perfect, I did my best

Welcome to the forum!

i think that you can specify your situation a bit more, OTA upgrading can be complex.

1) Application incompatibily: Are you sure that you have EVERYTHING uninstalled?
2) Rootfs full: try df -h in the console. you need more than 50mb free. have you checked it out?
3) Unknown errors: a rootfs reflash is safe. use it as your last resort, but without fear (after a backup, of course)

Keep asking, and have fun!

Thanks clasificado!!

Your name sound like spanish word, anyways...
This is a proof that Im totally noob, I thought that I only need to plug in my N900 into my PC, start Nokia Software Updater and enjoy the show!
1) I did not uninstalled everything, I thought it was not neccesary, because I read in other threads that after the updated is complete, you can run the application manager and install everything again, but I thought the N900 does this by itself.
2) According with healthchek app, I just have 38.7 mb free
3) I know reflashing is my last resort, and probably I will do it instead of updating by NSU because I just want a new fresh start.

Saying uninstall EVERYTHING you mean EVERYTHING?? I mean, all the apps I installed since I got my N900? Also, Do I need to delete all my media files? (music, movies, videos, etc)

Its funny to read all the posts here and in other threads, but now is my turn to ask questions, so far I always found answers to my questions reading the threads, but now Im a little desperate, I want 1.2 in my N900 NOW, lol

Thanks for your answers clasificado and anyone who wants to help me

no problem at all.

my name sounds like spanish for a good reason. my english looks like spanish too

This forum is a bit too tought (even rude), there are an english-only implicit rule, but whatever, its ok for me.

Please take your time and read the forum. Not everything because this week everyone is running with 1.2 and its crazy, but there are a info by tons.

Also, i have not experience with NSU. I know only OTA and Flash.

for OTA, you need 50+ mb of free rootfs space and several applications are known to be blocking the update.

for FLASH, you only need to mess a bit with the command line and several persons has reported problems with x64 os, and you need to reinstall your apps but its a safe way (with the proper backup, of course)

here is an useful link: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_f...ndows_7_32-bit

thats for flashing.

keep asking and have fun!
