I will probably be happy with my Qt applications running properly - other stuff probably will be nice though.

I'm in Finland but the update hasn't come OTA yet. Have waited this long but can wait a bit longer before I just flash the device already, perkele!

I think its a pretty weak update. The email client is still dreadful and painfully slow. I now seem to have a huge delay between flicking the switch to bring the screen back up and it actually coming back on. A lot of touch screen control seem to register hits but then not actually do anything until they have been jabbed repeatedly. Internet seems slower occasionally just not navigating to pages at all even on WiFi / Full signal. Also the Maps update is a joke. It needs more functionality not just a UI revamp. I still cant even bookmark locations. I'd moan about not having more portrait support too but in the 5 months I've had the phone I've learned to live without it although I'd rather not have had too.

The only thing that has impressed me is Skype video calling which, I have to say it fantastic. The video and voice are far smoother than the experience I get on my laptop with the full client.

I think most users are better off by doing a reflash of the phone once updated.

We probably all have had all sorts of extras-devel apps on our phones, and I suspect that all the various IM plugins etc. might harm the whole 'native Skype experience'.

I don't have the update yet, but I'm gonna reflash my device as soon as it lets me do it in the phone menu. Basically I sometimes had to reflash my 5800XM after software updates to get all the latest features and functions to work (properly).

Is there a way to backup text messages and do a new reflash?
I know the pc suite can't do it. Does the manual backup on the N900 do it?

It is not "the firmware of my dreams", but it is exactly what I expected.

It fulfilled all my expectations and even exceeded them, app manager wise. But I am wondering one thing; how do I increase the scrolling to 60fps? I remember reading a blog post about that.

I didnt back any of that up before flashing and all of it still seems to be there. That is a cause for concern for me as I was under the impressions that a reflash would leave me with a blank phone with new OS however this seems not to be the case as I still have all pictures, videos, music AND conversation histories. Its just all settings that got whacked.

That's what's meant to happen unless you flashed the eMMC aswell

It truly doesn't bring hope to any future support from Nokia, I never wanted to be a complainer but here I am complaining and I it upsets me so.
So your boss is all about GUI changes and not fixing backend bugs such as graphics driver and web browser memory leaks?

PR1.2 was never supposed to be a complete overhaul, it added QT compatibility and bug fixes. PR1.2 is more about lots of little tweaks and while I wish it was more than that, its been pretty clear since day one that Nokia are holding any major changes for MeeGo.

Its a shame they still missed some bug fixes sure, but fixing memory leaks is NEVER a waste of time, especially with a device you expect to rarely have to reboot. The graphics fixes for starters improves performance and reduces the chance of crashes. I think most PR1.2 improvements are stability related and something you will notice over a long period of time rather than immediately.
