So after installing PR1.2 I paired my Cardo Scala 700 again to see if it works any better. The audio quality is still not great but at least it's usable now. I'm having a few problems still: basically the N900 seems to be treating my earpiece like a pair of Bluetooth headphones. It passes all sound through the earpiece, including system clicks and music (before PR1.2 only high-pitched screeching came through in place of system sounds). I can hear a faint hiss from the earpiece all the time (with my last phone I noticed the hiss starting just as I placed or answered a call) so it's passing sound through constantly, which can't be good for the battery. None of the buttons on the headset do any of the things they should on the phone (hang up / redial etc).

Is there a config file I can edit or something to force the N900 to treat my earpiece like an earpiece?

i remember that if you plug-in a 3.5mm earpiece, every sound is redirected to your earpiece

so, it works as intended

or im remembering wrong?

This is a bluetooth earpiece I'm talking about, nothing is plugged into the 3.5mm jack while using it.

i know, but it works exactly as if you were plugged in a 3.5 earpiece right?

AFAIK, there is no way to have some sounds in the phone speakers and only music on the earpiece (bluetooth or cable), pr1.2 or not

because the bluez subsystem redirects all sound to the new speakers (BUT IM NOT SURE, TECHNICALLY, HOW)

maybe you can replace the original pulseaudio and configure a per-application sink structure, so you can select where your sound goes

It works the same as wired headphones, yes - I haven't tried the wired earpiece.

What I'd like to do:

- Get the buttons on the Bluetooth headset working
- It would be nice to get phone calls only going through the headset.
