My battery level was worse yesterday than i have ever had it before, by the end of the day i hardly had any charge left on the device (no difference in widgets installed, probably less internet browsing than normal)

The device became quite warm to the touch only when i was downloading apps from the application manager.

Ok, just to share my thoughts on this update: I did an update this morning (original firmware was the 2010.02-8 firmware). After making sure my rootfs was clean enough - and verifying it still (re-)booted correctly - I started the update.
The update itself seemed to go OK. Upon reflash:
* all fonts where replaced by [] (blocks)
* theming was totally gone (I saw a basic gray window with [] where the pincode window would be) but the button layout was largely the same
* upon loading X, in the left top corner a purple status bar was displayed, with no text/icons
* after a minute or so, the device rebooted itself

I also tried some other things, by e.g. using the camera button within that 'working minute'. This worked: the camera window appeared.
At one time even the browser appeared, but with a blank screen. In both cases it still rebooted. It thus seemed a GUI-restricted issue.

I reflashed the device using flasher3.5 (to the latest 1.2 update/Global ed.) and it worked.

Now I will have to restore all my settings; this is not for repetition and thus this will probably be my last update for the N900 (unless I reserve 2 weeks of my spare time to do the update).

(luckily I make a full / and /home backup each night, so with a lot of tweaking I prolly can get back a lot of my settings - let this be a warning however).

sander: Did you use the default theme before updating? Sounds a bit like issues with a custom font used by a custom theme.

I updated OTA here in Penang about 24 hours ago.

Got the usual 'Use a PC' message.
I used apt-get upgrade to figure out what's the problem. It was a couple of packages. gstreamer-plugins-extras-bad, fmtx-enabler & libgles1. I had to remove Extra Codec Support, FM Radio, Tuxrace, gltron & Brainparty to make it work.

Had 60MB free on root & the update took almost 20 minutes. But I was relieved when it completed without incident. Didn't loose any data, just some settings reset. I was surprised that even my custom boot video was still there.

I didn't notice any different is performance or stability, but love the new features.

Hi,

I used either the alpha or beta, didn't use any other theme. In any case: the fact that it didn't show a correct font wasn't the worrying part, the fact that it rebooted was

I guess I could build a rootfs from what I have backed up, reflash and try again to see what was wrong (but this time with some preparation), but I hope that I am the only one with this problem

NSU still doesnt work and it still tells me to use NSU.
So I did the same as ontge.
Dunno what all happened then tough..At least it ended with 3 warnings wich had something to do with python2.5, python-support and py(-something else-).
What to do now??
I didnt delete the files yet cuz I dont wanna miss python when it doesnt work after all(know I can get it back with apt-get, right?)

Ok so this is the solution that I came up with for using OTA and MSU in combination. It's strange and the issue isn't with everyone but give it a go.

Solution to updating to PR1.2

allright guys another problem.
Why doesnt the backup app on Nokia PC Suite???
When I open it up it always says that there is no phone connected and that I need to connect it.
Very strange because NSU does detect it.
Communication centre doesnt work either

It is strange but why don't you just create the backup on your phone?
