So I downloaded pr1.2 ota yesterday and now for some strange reason my device is slower then ever.
Another thing is the battery life, or lack of. My battery was at 55% at about 7am this morning and at about 11:30am it was down to 9% . I was disgusted when I saw this.
I deleted almost every program I had installed on this device yesterday hoping that my battery issue would clear out but no luck .

So I am interested on either Restoring original settings or clear device from "Settings".
Which is more recommended ?
I am just tired of always having to charge this device.
Also after doing one of the above action, what is recommended in terms of Apps for me to save battery life and improve speed on the N900 ?
I would like to overclock it to 800MHZ but I don't have the slightest idea how to do this.
I am definitely not tech savvy like almost everyone in the MAEMO community but I am learning as I go .

Thanks all

theres a wiki on how to overclock for noobs using titans kernel - it worked for me so it must be simple!

as for cleaning up a full flash would probably be a more thorough clean if you're ready to wipe everything, beginner wiki's round her for that too,

use power search to find both.

do this....

1. Downloaded (http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php)
• flasher-3.5.exe
(http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d....5_2.5.2.2.exe)
• RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
(http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N...ED_MR0_ARM.bin)
• RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin
(http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N...MC_MR0_ARM.bin)

2. I installed the "flasher-3.5.exe"
3. I then moved
"RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin"
"RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin"
To the directory where I installed the flasher (Default is C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5).
4. I then done a full backup of my N900 using the backup tool on the phone and moved all my stuff on to the memory card.
5. Ensure the battery is at least half full.
6. Unplug charger cable and switch off the device.
7. Open the Command Prompt (Start then Run or Windows Logo key + R) and type "cmd" then press Enter (this will open a black window).
8. Change the directory to the Flasher's path by typing in "cd "%ProgramFiles%\maemo\flasher-3.5"
9. Hold the u key on the device keyboard and connect the USB cable at the same time.
10. Run the following command by typing:
"flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f"

After this completes

11. Run the following command by typing:
"flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R"

The flash will take around 1 minute after which the device will reboot.
The bright Nokia screen will come up on the screen with the USB icon on the top right followed by progression dots with yellow LED blinking for a few seconds
And you’re done. Welcome to the world on 1.2

is there a difference between restoring the device from "settings" on the phone and flashing ?
I'm not really sure what the above reply wants me to do even though its step by step.
I guess I would need a "super noob" step by step, but I know that isn't going to happen .

I guess in order for me to do the steps above (reply above) I would need do some more in depth research as too what the heck your telling me to do lol.

Thanks

the difference between "settings" restore and flashing is when you do the clear device from the phone settings you will still have all contacts, sms, emails, etc still in the device. if you do a full flash you will have a stock n900 as if you would have just bought it

So I just restored the n900 from "settings" I will report on battery performance.

One thing I forgot to mention was around my first post my phone was charging and at about 50% battery level I had to leave to run some errands and at about 6:00pm the battery level was at about 11%.

Like I said I'll post later on tonight on battery performance.

Thanks

so my phone stopped charfging at 90percent and before it stopped at 95. not sure whatgs goin on with that.
so i have been downlloading a few apps from app manager and ovi store + some online surfing.
I think my battery has improved some as its at 70percent at this moment as before it would probably be dead.

the format option from settings is very useless.take your time drink a beer and make a flash.dont worry you cant destroy your device even if it dont work you can do it another time.
