Hi,

I was having difficulties with updating (it whined that i need nokia pc suite but it failed all the time).

I was able to install update with these steps:

1.
Download Latest firmware (its name is Latest PR1.2 global) from here: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php. You need to enter your devices imei code to download file.

2.
download and install nokia updater http://europe.nokia.com/support/down...ftware-update#. (write n900 to box and it will take you to download page).

3.
Navigate to this folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Service Layer\A\nsl_service_module_00001\vpls\http://www.dsut.online.nokia.com.oti...Products\rx-51 (THIS IS WINXP FOLDER, IT MAY DIFFER IN DIFFERENT OS'S)

4.
put the .bin file you downloaded in step 1 to this folder.

5.
(IMPORTANT: try to update first without this trick, because folder in step 3 may not be created without trying to update at least once)
Connect your N900 to computer and launch nokia updater. It should detect your downloaded bin file and start flashing the device right away.

Please let me now if this worked .

Hi. I've followed the instructions but NSU comes back and still says I've got the latest but I've got 2.2009.51-1.205.1
I've got a UK device, but am in Switzerland. I've done one update using OTA then no other updates were notified.
Please any ideas why I keep getting told I have the latest?
Thanks

The NSU message I get also says teh my mobile provider may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available. I know that apparently UK carriers may have blocked updates when Skype became available?

I found that after install teeworlds (and may be also other packages) from the development repository add a dependency to the libgles1-sgx-img library. This dependency is blocking PR1.2 update. Removing the apps that have hard dependency to this library, or forcefully removing the blocking library from the terminal would allow the NSU update to go ahead.

Thanks bernard.
How do I tell if an app comes from the development repository?

You can use check the apt database, e.g.,

apt-cache showpkg <package name>

It will show you the repository that each version of the package comes from. Some packages may have version 1.0 from extras repository but 1.1 from extra-devel and so on.

This really sucks... it doesn't allow me SSU, now even NSU fails.

i'm downloading the bin file to try the above method, ::finger-crossed:: hope that it works, but still trying to figure out where's the corresponding folder in win7.

Make sure you do a full back up from back up in the device menu before you do this. This is how i updated to 1.2 after rootfs and nsu problems.

Get it right and flasher 3.5 takes minutes. Afterwards fully restore which cant take up to an hour depending on the level of apps it has to restore.

It is indeed possible that your carrier have blocked updates, i cannot say anything about libgles1-sgx-img dependency because I had it installed earlier.

@xyes
Your lucky to even get to launch NSU in windows 7. I had to change to xp to do that.. dont worry, the method I described will work if your NSU got to downloading stage but failed there =). Nokia folder is usually in C:\Users\All Users\Nokia in windows 7. Good luck updating.
