Don't matter where you install flasher as long as you put the file your trying to flash in the flasher folder and direct the flashing command to the folder flasher is installed.and to the filename of the file your flashing.
Please slowly read the flashing guide and digest it step by step and make sure your not making typing errors when starting off the flash.

Can someone help me out I am to flash my n900 but I am not sure which firmware to flash it with. I have US varian n900.

i copied the command and output and pasted it in earlier thread.
i'm using 32bit windows xp machine.

the command i did was:
D:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5>flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

and the actual file i'm using to flash:
RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
which is 103,883 kb

the flasher was:
maemo_flasher-3.5_2.5.2.2.exe
and it was installed on D drive.

i didn't see countdown. maybe i didn't connect the device properly in flash mode? what can be the cause i didn't see a countdown?
what should be the output after the countdown?

If you live in the states then this is the file you should be downloading and flashing ok.

uninstalled it and install it again on driver C without help.

I bought my N900 in the states if that matters.
so should i use Latest Maemo 5 USA release for Nokia N900?

instead of
RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.19-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin
maybe this cause the trouble?

Once your in the directory of the flasher the command you should use for flashing the image is...

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R

Turn off your 900 and input the command in the flasher then at that point press u on the keyboard of your 900 and flasher will detect the device and start to flash.

Let me know what happens.

You should use the image of the place you live NOT where the N900 came from, for instance i got mine from the states but i flash it with the global fw not the states one ok.
