Yes - I upgraded to PR 1.2 on Wednesday. N900 was noticeably warmer on Friday. Seems cooler today.

Admittedly, I was experimenting with the OS all Thursday and Friday, but I was thinking of asking the same question.

I did a manual upgrad with the flasher, including a flash of the emmc and my n900 is about as warm as it ever was.
No fancy apps installed (yet) and the reindexing did not make it significantly warmer either...

I noticed my N900 getting warmer, but just for the first day after upgrade. I checked by opening xterminal and running command

In the %CPU column there were high values for tracker-indexer and hildon-thumbnail.
Exactly right !!! spot on absolutely lol.

right now on my n900, there is only conky, skype, and xchat windows open, but conky is showing "browserd" taking ~90% cpu !! I wonder why. I will have to kill that process I guess, or just launch browser again and close it and see.

later ... ok i launched the browser and clicked on one of the bookmarks, during the page load process the cpu usage went way down, and now its normal. If I had not observed this through conky, wud it drain the whole battery? Yes perhaps. These things need lot of optimizations.

unfortunately, when I launch the browser it uses so much CPU that music player starts lagging and then pauses, and the phone may become unresponsive. After a few seconds everything is OK, but the browser keeps using CPU hardly. If I leave the phone and it switches the display off after half a minute, the player lags again. The uptime is over 3 days, maybe its time to reboot? However, I hoped that there will be no need to reboot at all =(

mine has the same problem too. after removing Twitter widget & a reboot, it's back to normal now, don't feel any heat at the back anymore. not sure if that's the cause, but it works for me.
