did anyone try to 'deactivate the license'? does it not work at all at that point? or does it need connection to the server as well?

basically i tried to contact them again, and reply to the first email they sent, and no reply yet. they could at least left the server running and let people get some perpetual licenses since they were shutting down anyway....

so what will happen if you re-flash and re-install the application? you won't be able to activate it again, since the servers are no longer running?

You may want to take a gander at this thread since a lot of users are sharing how to bypass the fact that the servers are no longer up and running for authorization(s), et al.

I only use my N810 for Wayfinder/GPS, so my solution was to set the date on my N810 back a couple of years. This works fine for me, but prolly won't work for most.

I don't really understand the complaints about Wayfinder. In my opinion, it is miles ahead of Sygic on the N900. Wayfinder has much more detailed maps and an easier to use interface. (The maps on Sygic remind me of the US maps I had on my Palm about a decade ago.) Also, Wayfinder is usually spot on concerning estimated arrival times. Sygic is usually not even close.

That's why I keep my N810 for navigation only.

It's strange that it works for you, since it can get the correct date from the gps receiver.

I hadn't thought of that, luca. I'll report back if it stops working.

O.K., Luca, I'm reporting back. With the date set back, Wayfinder starts and locates its position; however, as soon as I try to find a route, it barfs with an error about the device clock being incorrect. So, you were on the money. I'm really bummed.
