Being that the class i the minimum speed the card will do (class 2 = 2MB or Mb & Class 6 = 6MB or Mb) I wuld go with the Class 6 provided no one here has had an issue with it.

To whoever was worried about buying an N800 I'm using Transcend 8GB SDHC Class 6. Works perfectly. Just make sure you install firmware update to support HC cards.
FYI the "Class" ratings of these cards is for minimum WRITE speed. All cards read at roughly the same rate (which is way higher than the write rate.)

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. But I already understand the whole "class = write speed" thing. Just wanted to know which particular one they were using as it appears whichever one it is seems not to be as prone to the same failures as some other cards (so far). I wanted to make sure and get the same exact model since noone seems to know exactly which variable (i.e. write speed, capacity, memory type, etc...) is causing this behavior. Just trying to be "better safe than sorry", I suppose.

I have now fried 4 sd cards... Is this a record? Just for the record - i love my n800, but
for the moment it will be relegated to being a web browser in bed. My original
purpose of using it as a portable media device aint gonna happen til this issue gets
resolved. For the record
1. Mini sd, 2gig, sandisk. Fried while downloading a podcast via wifi
2. 4gig sandisk ultra sd. Transferred a few movies to it, didnt really use it much. Week later it was greyed out
3 and 4 were cheapie 2gig sandisk sd cards that i picked up 2 days ago. Fried both
within an hour after transferring mp3s via wifi from orb server on my wifi lan.
Tried formatting all of them on windows, dos, n800 and with panasonic tool afterwards. No go. No more.
Show of hands: Could readers who have had no problems please report in on which cards they use? I seem to get the idea no faulty Kingstons have been reported? All my failures were sandisk, but then again thats all i've tried, and my one success is a 1g mimi sd sandisk that just keeps on going.

mine was grayed out too.
Just go to the File Manager menu And select the Memory card option
There you can select Internal or Removable and then select Format

I am using 2 Kingston 4GB SDHC cards for about 4 weeks now. No problems.
One is used to hold maps for MM. The other is used to hold MP3s, and as swap.
