Flasher 3.5 says cmt flashed successfully but the phone won't turn on pass the nokia logo. I'm worried all my pictures videos..etc will be erased. Can someone help me I do know what to do

I followed this guide http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_f...29.2FWindows_7

but I ended using a spare emachine pc that I installed windows xp fresh and it worked great, I was having trouble and gave up on my main gaming pc windows 7 home premium 64bit. So try to get a xp pc to use and start the steps from scratch and just reflash with the firmware not the vanilla emmc that will defentily erase your stuff.

Hold the power button down if still stuck on screen to turn off, if not remove battery for 1 minute while holding down the power button for like 30 seconds, then put all back together and dont turn on again until your ready to hold down the "U" button and plug in usb cord at same time to go into usb mode to start flashing.

I totally agree with the battery comment. If you can swap out the battery with a new/borrowed/fully charged and then use the Flasher program to reflash, you should hopefully be okay.

I know this from unfortunate experience; my phone was down for most of this last week - I live in a town of over 150,000 and there were no N900 batteries to be found anywhere. (I ordered my N900 online.)

I ended up buying a generic camera/pda battery charger at an office supply store to give it enough juice to enable flashing so the phone would quit rebooting every 15 seconds. I know that I won't ever try to do a major update like 1.2 again without an extra battery on hand.

The OTA update should check the battery status as well as free space, IMO. (If it does, I don't recall seeing it.)

you only need to reflash rootfs again (as already posted here)

the worst where you can get into, is when your battery run out of power, because youll need an external charger.

the spare batteries (sealed) usually dont come with enough power

its a safe procedure, just... you are in an inconvenient place
