that package will install on OS 2006 if you --force it. a simple console hex editor, handy for hackerish things. i only mention it here so that someone can find it by searching later.

Hello sparr:
I tried installing it on my n800 with latest firmware but got:
Code:
Unable to install
Incompatible application package
Is that what you meant by having to force it and what, if any, are the risks?
[I have a very well functioning n800 at the moment ]

PS
I would like to install this so as to be able to edit the personal dictionaries found in:
/home/user/.osso/hildon-input-method

I went ahead and did a...

dpkg -i hexedit_1.2.12-2_armel.deb

and now need to sort out what needs to be done to rectify:

Code:
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of hexedit:
hexedit depends on libc6 (>= 2.5-5); however:
 Version of libc6 on system is 2.3.5cs2005q3.2-5.osso12.
hexedit depends on libgcc1 (>= 1:4.2-20070516); however:
 Version of libgcc1 on system is 1:3.4.4cs2005q3.2-5.osso3.
dpkg: error processing hexedit (--install):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
hexedit
...whilst not breaking anything else
