I have only used Titans Ideal kernel. But for some reason everytime i put it on the battery drain is lame. Regular kernel on basically stand by last the whole day with a little over half bar but with the OC it dies by the end of the day on Stand by. =(.

I would also like to know if there is a specific way to OC now. Also will it drain battery as bad. Before PR1.2 i swear it wasn't that bad or is it just me?

Anyone else OC properly after PR1.2? any new walk throughs or videos?

I've been unable to find joy by over-clocking my PR1.2 device via the kernel-power-settings package:

Background:
I enjoyed noticeable performance and battery gains via Titan's OC-kernels before flashing to PR1.2. I also tried the leaked PR1.2, encountered reliability issues with Exchange Server syncing, and this reverted to the non-overclocked vanilla PR1.1.1 with the up-flashed radios.

It was this install that I then flashed with the official US-version PR1.2, including the vanilla eMMC using flasher3.5exe.

Results:
Attempts to overclock this install via Titan's kernel-power-settings produced frequent system freezes in the browser, in the phone app, in the email app, and when resuming from sleep via the side-slider button (i.e. system would not resume). In all cases of system freeze, I resorted to pulling/re-seating the battery in order to reboot each time.

The only power-settings I explored while doing this were based on the Ideal settings, with limits set to 125/750, 125/850, 125/950, 250/750, 250/850, and 250/950.

Outcome:
I've since de-installed kernel-power-settings and am now running a fresh PR1.2 flash. Battery performance is excellent: as of 5pm today with 8 hours of constant Wifi/3G connectivity and moderate email, browser, witter usage the battery is still close to max.

YMMV.

You can't, that is the whole point of the power kernel - to add functionality the stock kernel does not have.

That said, if you are having problems I doubt they are related to the power kernel. I am using modified Ideal settings (added back 250Mhz min, 1000Mhz max) and for the first time ever I can keep my N900 idle all day and only lose one notch on the battery.

It still drains fast in actual use, but I don't think its any worse than before.

The ideal profile seems to have changed recently with 500Mhz being the minimum now. Changing the limits using kernel-config does nothing, as nothing below 500 is listed in the ideal profile so anything below 500Mhz is ignored.

My current overclocked profile (/home/user/.kernel/overclocked) with 0 and 250Mhz added back in is:
# kernel configuration file generated by /usr/sbin/kernel-config
MINFREQ=250
MAXFREQ=1000
FREQS="0:30,90 250:28,180 500:30,360 550:33,400 600:38,430 700:45,430 750:45,430 805:48,430 850:48,500 900:54,500 950:54,500 1000:60,500 1100:72,520 1150:72,520 "
SMARTREFLEX_VDD1=0
SMARTREFLEX_VDD2=0
GOVERNOR=ondemand
IGNORE_NICE_LOAD=1
UP_THRESHOLD=75
SAMPLING_RATE=150000
POWERSAVE_BIAS=0
Ideal is however:
# minimum frequency to use
MINFREQ=500
# maximum frequency to use
MAXFREQ=850
# list of frequency configurations: each "frequency:volt,dsprate"
FREQS="500:30,360 550:33,400 600:38,430 700:45,430 750:45,430 805:48,430 850:48,500 900:54,500 950:54,500 1000:60,500 1100:72,520 1150:72,520"
SMARTREFLEX_VDD1=0
SMARTREFLEX_VDD2=0
GOVERNOR=ondemand
UP_THRESHOLD=75
SAMPLING_RATE=150000
IGNORE_NICE_LOAD=1
POWERSAVE_BIAS=0
As you can see, all frequencies below 500 are missing so even if you set minimum to 125 or 250, it will only ever go as low as 500Mhz. I'm not sure why this change was made.

All I can say is with my overclocked settings my current uptime is 6 days, 14:26 and counting.

Hmm no wonder it never goes below 500 in Conky. Anyways I had it at 125-800 before pr1.2. What should I put in to get it to go down to 125?

My overclocking experience with the leaked firmware and the legitimate release has been flawless. I'm very happy.

I just checked some of the other files such as /usr/share/kernel-power-settings/lv which does still have the other values. Obviously you may be able to get away with reducing the voltage on 125 and 250 but its trial and error.

They even recommend you not use ideal until you have tested the others first, as it may be unstable due to using the lowest voltages. I had it crash a few times on PR1.1.1 but not a single crash since PR1.2, but that may also be due to their own changes to the ideal profile in the meantime.

i meant like..
ok scratch that..
i saw premade kernels on internet which jus had to be flashed..
they were based upon stock kernel from pr1.1.1
i think they were called letho's kernel or something
anyways..
point is..
how did he make those?
and i gotta tweak from the inside without flashing coz if i flash the kernel, it says V <unknown> on the *#0000#..
and my issues with titans are that i dont want my mobile to freeze if the slide is open.. *dual boot is buitlin i suppose*
and i still trust the stock kernel rather than a experimental kernel.

i jus had my second restart with this kernel..
then it gives a notification "warning improper restart custom kernel will NOT be loaded" or something along the lines..
is anyone else havin this?
