I would really like to see the UX-WEEK threads wikified, by the way - this looks like a great initiative, and I'd really like to see any conclusions/proposals from these kept for posterity and converted into bug reports for app developers.

Dave.

This could be handled by an new maemowiki-project in garage.maemo.org because it provides the possibility to create mailing lists.

We also use something similar for the testing squad.
The general idea is that the community mailing list should be used for wiki content discussions. Perhaps this is not effective, but I think that a documentation or wiki mailing list created now would not end up being very active. I am planning on relaunching the action group & trying to organise a project page a bit clearer than the current one to co-ordinate things a bit more this week.

Cheers,
Dave.

It's possible to label threads with tags. It's also possible to search for tags. An overview what tags are used you can get here: http://talk.maemo.org/tags.php

I would suggest to use
  • a tag "wikify" as marker for threads which contain useful stuff for (new) wiki pages.
  • If there are existing wiki pages which could improved using content from a tmo-thread we should use a special category directly into the wiki

The best option would be to mark single posts as "wikify" but this seems to be impossible yet. I also don't know the exact requirements to tag a thread. It seems that I cant tag this thread for example...(UPDATE: It's possible to edit tags by reviewing a thread and not during creation or edit of a single post. I'll tag this thread as wikify as an example
There also should be the possibility to change or remove tags from threads/posts.

If we decide to use bugs.maemo.org there should be a new component in: https://bugs.maemo.org/enter_bug.cgi....org%20Website
This component could bee called 'wiki-content'.

What do you think?

Best regards, Uwe

I like this idea, and maybe it could be improved further using a template, with arguments for URLs, for example:

Code:
{{wikify|http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=51173}}
to link to this thread. The template would add the category and maybe even a paragraph with a link to the external information, making is pretty easy to see which external resources need to be added to the wiki (by checking the category), and providing the links to them in the article. I was thinking of something like:

This article should include information from [external resource]. Please help to copy the relevant information to the wiki.
I can add this if anyone thinks that it would be useful.

This sounds very good to me and I would start using this possibility if available. Sometimes it would even better to link a single posting instead of a complete thread so it's good if the "source"-url could be defined freely.

I also began to set "wikify" as tag for threads containing information which should be placed into the wiki. To get the list all you have to do is to search for "wikify" as thread-tag in the advanced forum search: http://talk.maemo.org/search.php?searchid=7291205

Ciao jukey

Well, it works: http://wiki.maemo.org/UX/Icons but it is kind of clunky, as anything with an ’=‘ in the URL is interpreted as a named template argument. The solution is to use a named template argument for problem URLs, by adding ’1=‘ to the start of the URL:

Code:
{{wikify|1=http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=50353}}

Great! I will add those to the UX page, and add a note to the Maemowiki action group page too.

I've just made another short wikipage about a workround for the limited repetitions available in the Calendar app. I've said it's an N900 problem as I don't know whether the problem and/or solution are applicable to older versions of Maemo, not having a device that runs them. Anyone who does, feel free to update...
