I am new to maemo and linux having just bought an n900. I would like to abandon my iPhone for good but I've not yet been able to install the spotify client on my device.
As the thread title suggests, my old school MS DOS heritage means I have taken to Xterm quite easily although I am still getting my head round the file system, root commands and so on... i had to resort to XTerm to fix a "File system read-only" error recenty.
I have only just begun to figure out all the different shell commands although it takes me forever going though reference websites. The I will probably eventually pick up enough of a knack for it to install the despotify client which SEEMS to only be available in uncompiled code form.
Can anyone give me step by step installation instructions for this app so I can sort of leap frog my current level of expertise? Pretty please??

Reason: correction...
I'd recomend using a client that has a front end for despotify. Footify looks very interesting and should be close to arriving in the repos soon. Despotify alone means you aill have to use xterm to do everything otherwise which stops it being so functional.
Yaspot and Qtify are other clients you can try although I dont know if they have the updated despotify version so may not work. I also found these two were not so good over 3G and crashed a bit.
