Hey all...I just got a Nokia 770 and am having trouble figuring out how to copy things from my computer to my memory card. Specifically pdf documents. Please email me at leadtrmptplyr@yahoo.com with any suggestions. The instruction manual isn't very helpful. Thanks, Brian.

when you connect a usb cable, the memory card is seen as a mass storage dev on the computer just drag and drop

How do I locate that? When I go to My Computer there is nothing there. When I try to copy the file there is nothing there besides the c, d & e drives. I'm wondering if my computer is set up for this or not.

If your computer is like most standard setups C = Hard Drive, D = Optical drive, and E should be the memory card (unless you have a second hard drive or optical drive). If that still isn't it you could try mounting the card with a card reader.

I have a hard drive, a cd writer drive and a dvd player drive. Those are the only ones that show up. Any thoughts? I'm at my wits end trying to figure it out. Thanks, Brian.

When you plugged it in the first time did the New Device Manager in Windows not pop up like it was trying to install it or anything? It sounds to me like the device simply isn't being recognized. Do you have a card reader you can try (i.e. to make sure the card itself is readable)? Also are you sure the cable is inserted fully into your IT? I'm sorry if that sounds really obvious, but I just got mine 10 days ago and I remember the port on mine was really tight when I first got it and I had to push fairly hard to get it to seat all the way, so I just had to ask.

Hey guys....I really appreciate the help. The problem was that it wasn't being recognized when I plugged it into the front USB ports. A friend of mine built the computer. He might not have hooked up the front ports. It worked when I plugged it into the rear ports. Fantastic and again....Thanks. Brian.

Glad you got it worked out. Man, that never occurred to me (and it's actually happened to me before with other devices). Hope you enjoy your tablet as much as I have mine.

Another way to move files back and forth that I just got working is to use a SFTP connection with OpenSSH. If you are familiar with Linux then you can move files back and forth without wires using the IT wireless. I use WinSCP in XP to connect to the IT and copy files anywhere on the IT including the MMC card. It seems to me the USB transfers are slower.

Filezilla Client also works really well as an FTP/SFTP client on Windows.

Filezilla can use PuTTY pageant for public/private key authentication via ssh.

If you follow my brief tutorial explaining how to configure ssh public/private key authentication when using PuTTY, you can then easily configure Filezilla SFTP in under a minute. The only requirement on the 770/N800 is openssh - no need for a seperate tftp/ftp server.
