but it might not, and even if meego does support flash, that by no means leads to availability of flash 10.1 on the 'n900 version meego' .

tbh, if nokia is gonna release flash10.1 for maemo5, they will probably hang big posters up in central london to convince people that n900 is not dead, but apparently , nokia doesnt give that much of a fxxk about n900 nor maemo5 anymore, so there goes.

furthermore, google and apple owns the most talented programmers and computer engineers nowadays ( no offense to all the respected programmers in the maemo community) , OS like maemo and windows mobile will slowly loss its attraction due to the low level of innovation of time and the pissing taking time they take to release new firmwares.

Caveat: I do not know how credible the following information is, but probably somebody better informed can use it as input to verify its accuracy:

What I understood from reading this this blog entry flash 10.1 will not come to the N900, because the N900 like many other phones do not fulfull the hardeware requirements setup by Adobe.

"800x480 resolution, an 800MHz variant is required" we have this.

What? Without overclocking it is 600 MHz.

yes, what i mean is that it could be done. So i dont think that hardware should be a problem.

If the quoted blog is right about the restrictions imposed for Flash 10.1, then I guess Adobe will not care about what "could be done", but what the default setup of the device is. Thus, no Flash 10.1 on the N900.

IF the requirement is 800Mhz then why would they even demoed it on the N900 from the begining and it is running just fine! There seriously some marketing scheme going on right there! If the bench mark is 800Mhz then I'm sure NOkia will lift the CPU spec up by OC the device in the official firmware this is also possible.

Umm. Why does CPU speed matter so much when Flash 10.1 is supposed to be GPU assisted? SnapDragon 1GHz would be slower than OMAP3+GPU combo of the "stock" N900 if properly utilized. (our GPU is pretty damn fast mind you) As for my 1Ghz overclocked N900, well, wouldn't that be a different story? Hmmm.

Oh well, it seems N900 + Maemo5 will not get Flash 10.1 support even though hardware is capable. I thought having Maemo5 OS on the N900 meant "more options" but it seems we are going to be as limited as the iPhone soon for many websites.

Frustrating, but what can we do. Nokia has all the say and they say no.

well if no 10.1 lets just hope that apple's plan to ditch flash creates html5 alternatives for 90% of the sites (and hulu). then its not as a much of an problem

It seems (if the linked blog entry is right) that it is Adobe imposing these restrictions not the device manufacturers - in our case Nokia.
