Hi,
I just got my 770, and I am trying to install minimo on it from maemo.org.

When I select the green download arrow on the site, I am prompted to open it in the application installer, which I do. It then opens the application installer, but never actually installs the application as it has for the other couple of apps I have installed. Is there something else I have to install first before installing minimo?

Is this going to involve doing some command line stuff? I have done a little of it in the past on linux, and I'm willing to figure it out, but I don't know where to start. The maemo site makes it seem like it should just install when you click the arrow (and it does with other apps).

Thanks
CW

Via the Application Manager, add this to your catalogs:

http://www.maemo.org.br/minimo
distribution:bora
components: user

That should allow you to get all of the components. I'd say add the above to the Application Manager, quit the AM, then via Xterm use the "apt-get install minimo" (sans quotation marks) command to install and say yes to the two prompts... and that should install Minimo without incident.

Or read this existing thread... thought it looked familiar.

You'll probably need to add this one as well (I did):

repository.maemo.org

Gerbicks method should work. What I found when I tried to install Minimo from App Mgr was that it has dependancies on other packages. If you didn't have there address's in the app. catalog, Minimo would not install. Elsewhere on this forum you will find threads regarding repositories and there address in app. catalog. There is a thread where a user listed his app. catalog address's. Once I got those address's in app. manger then minimo installed without going to the cmd prompt. Just a word about Minimo. It is Beta-ware. Meaning it is still under development. Be perpared for some crashes and things that don't work. Saving that Minimo does work better than Opera on modern websites.
