PCSX on PC breaks with all.iso but runs emotion.iso for me - p.e.Op.s softx drive 1.15 and cdrmooby 2.8.

Haven't found the read past EOF bug yet (emailed the author). Might be possible that some of these lightweight PD games would run playably. So far the fastest commercial game i've seen is Oddworld: Abe's Oddysey (holds up original CD).

FF7 and 9 seem pretty lightweight in running-around mode but battle scenes are slower. You can see semi-playable FF9 results on psx4gp2x on an arm9 @ 290 mhz here..

So that emu @ 333mhz on the N800 might actually be usable. Really depends on the memory speed.

did i read some where that the gp2x has dual processors?
im ripping ff7 now just for fun (plus my ppc-6700 wm5 phone might run it.)
can pcsx load iso's?
every time i try to load one it says its not supported.
and i don't think a cue/bin ripper is available for linux

Yes but psx4gp2x only uses the main cpu.

Cdrmooby (pcsx) seems to require cue/bin.

There are cue/bin utilities for linux, but i don't remember how to create one - check out dvdrip.

Just saw this and am very excited to get psx on the N800. So, I did some looking around and found some info that might be interesting. Maybe an OpenGL plugin for 3D. Take a look at these links. Unfortunately, this is for the N800 only as the OMAP2420 chip has 3D.

Also here is a link to some OMAP Linux community resources. http://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wtb...contentId=4753

Unfortunately there are no drivers that allow programmers to take advantage of the 3D hardware inside the N800... (yet?)

If you sign up to the PowerVR Insider program (for developers) here:

http://www.imgtec.com/PowerVR/inside...ster/index.asp

there is a box you can check to be informed about "N800 drivers", but that seems to be the only reference I can find that such drivers might be in development and may exist someday. The developers at Nokia seem to pretty much sidestep the issue if you bring it up with them on mailing lists, etc. There is some question as to whether such drivers will even help that much because there are serious bandwidth issues that hobble the N800's display, making it much less capable for fast action gaming than it should be given the overall hardware specs.

Well, if there are bandwidth issues that limit the rate at which you can push data to the screen, you can have the 3d driver account for that and limit the rendering framerate, and spare some battery life or push higher detail per frame.

Lacking openGL drivers for the powerVR gpu, we can only make wild guesses about what would be possible, Based on ssvb's tests N800 framebuffer speed is lower than 770 but certainly sufficient for 30+fps at 400x240.

It's hard to see much incentive for Nokia to pay for OpenGL drivers for the already released N800. I'm still hopeful we will see it in the next-gen tablets, which will be facing stiffer competition from other pda-like devices in the graphics department.

Back on topic -- this build of PCSX exists to show what kind of baseline performance a psx emu gets on the tablets, and i'm still waiting to hear results from N800 owners. If you have any PCSX compatible game (see http://www.pcsx.net/compatibility.shtml ) please try it and report results.

Within the next few weeks, I expect work will begin bringing psx4all to the nokia platform. psx4all has two years of optimization behind it, which has increased performance 10-20 times over the level you see with PCSX.

Cheers

(edit) Abe's Oddyssee runs - almost exactly 1.0 fps. Intro movies play but render errors...
