I get the error message:
"Exchange Account Disabled: Access Refused"

Setup as follows

n900 -> squid proxy -> exchange

Output from syslog is here:
http://pastebin.org/322714

My replacements for privacy:
USERNAME
MAILSERVER
PROXY
DOMAIN

Line 50 seems strange as I would have expected username@domain.com

Also 198 & 309 seem strange as "Account name=[]"

Any ideas why I can't connect?

Has this ever worked? You're getting a 403 response back from the Exchange server, which usually indicates that the server requires provisioning, or that your account isn't set up for mobile access.

Nope.

The other lads have iphones working (without much effort).

My account is set for activesync and the server allows non-provisioned devices.

It could have something to do with trying to access the exchange server from inside the building on wi-fi or from outside the building through 3G/EDGE/etc.

I've had the same problem since day 1, my only real complaint about the N900, and neither of my IT guys can figure it out either. One of them had it working once, but I could only GET mail when connected through AT&T over EDGE using our SMTP server and then only send mail when using another SMTP server.

Could also be completely unrelated, but the only theory I have to go on.

Is there a resolution to this?

I have read numerous forum posts saying that exchange 2003 was resolved in PR1.2. I am still unable to connect to my corporate 2003 server though.

Any help ??

Not that I am aware. I also continue to have the same issue on my end and my company has gone from 2000 to 2003 and is now at 2007 for another two weeks before making the final leap to 2010.

I have had the same error when trying to connect as I have had since it was Exchange 2000!!

Well I have had some success. (The problem was policy one, I'd left myself on our default policy which wont let people sync).

However now my calandar syncs fine but I cannot sync emails.

Have you used MfEfolders to disable sync of the Deleted Items folder?

No, I'll give that a try and get back to you.

Depends on what the issue is. It should work for Exchange 2003 servers, providing they're using a valid SSL certificate signed by a CA (and the CA certificate is loaded on the N900) and that they allow non-provisionable devices.
