Sounds really annoying thing. I hope you will be more lucky in the future. Anyway, let us know if it's fixed or if it continues.

If you hook it up to a computer will the computer recognize it? If so you could just reinstall the firmware and that might fix the problem.

So update on the 770 hitting the infinite reboot loop, requiring a reflash to gain normal operation (8th time already in 2 weeks).
Managed to get it to fail with latest 3.2006.49-2 fresh installed, and only VNCViewer 0.6 installed. About a day after installing VNCViewer, read RSS feeds (added nothing new), retrieved emails (1.6MB), I noticed the amount of Free Storage dropped from the typical 50+MB to ~29MB. So 20+MB got consumed somehow, and the Memory app struggled to display it. The Memory In Use kept creeping up past 12MB/25%, but never really completed (was awfully slow in terms of progress). The numbers didn't seem to add up as they had done earlier (when at 50+MB free). So I pressed the power button, selected Switch Off, waited a while, hit the power button and infinite reboot as I have come to expect. So this removed Maemomapper from the suspect list and left:-

VNC Viewer 0.6
Default RSS feeds
IMAP4 Email configuration

Now I had Maemo mapper, RSS feeds, email running fine for a few days, and then added VNC Viewer 0.6 and it died within a few hours.

I think my next test is not to install *any* apps and see if it dies with a default config.
Suggestions? Conclusions?

I have had similar "reboot loop" issues in the past - a reflash did solve the immediate problem allthough and am back in that same situation now. Other than Maemo Mapper I don't have anything else installed other than default items.

Yesterday Mapper traced a route whilst out on my MTB. I saved the track which turned out to be 1.2MB. Since then though I've hit a brick wall and cannot get the thing to start and launch an any application without freezing after a minute or so at most.

If I can get Control Panel->Memory open in this time I have found that internal memory useage is between 80-100% so it appears the internal RAM is somewat "shafted" !

I'm just trying again now and it shows 65% (7.85MB) useage which is lower than it has been and 4.11MB free. 0kb for e-mail, 2.59MB Video, 4.77MB Audio...err and I can't scroll further down as its frozen again and will in time reboot itself.

Fed up

Best Rgds

FunkyFreddy - you have redirected your Maps to be stored on the External MMC card, right? I can see how Maemomapper (default config) will consume internal memory when downloading maps. Check earlier in this thread. I thought this was my problem, but I still got crashes when maps were stored on the external MMC card, and even without Maemo Mapper installed!
I now suspect VNC Viewer 0.6, but can't confirm this until I get another crash *without* it installed.

Yet another infinite reboot loop since reflashing yesterday, but I can now eliminate VNC Viewer since it was not installed. What was installed:-
Maemo Mapper (with maps on MMC card)
Mediastreamer 1.2-12
maemo-bt-plugin 0.6.1-1
load-applet 0.6.4-2
My conclusion is now confused, since crashing appears to occur if more than one or two apps are loaded.
Is the latest 3.2006.49-2 stable?
How much swap space is recommended (I've been using 16MB)
Do people use mistral or gregale repositories?

I don't want to thread-jack, but did want to add my two cents.

I had the same issue over the last few days. For me, uninstalling unused apps and removing files from the internal memory did the trick. I never actually reflashed and have rebooted several times since.

I have not however, used maemo mapper at all... Never installed it.

New turn in events - having reinstalled 3.2006.49-2 and then added
load-applet 0.6.4-2
maemo-bt-plugin 0.6.1-1
maemo-recorder 0.21
mediastreamer 1.2-12
osso-xterm 0.13
I see I have
Device - 1% used (Storage mem in use 1.27MB, available 64.4MB)
Memory card - 77% used (13.3MB available)
Virtual 32MB enabled
I then hit the power switch, select "Switch off!" and it powers off OK.
Now the issue:- pressing the power button would not turn it back on! Tried taking the battery out, still holding the power button gave a blank/black screen (no Nokia logo). This persisted over many power-on attempts. Battery was fully charged.
Decided to reflash, so hold home/hit power, USB logo immediately pops up OK. Tried an experiment - disconnected USB, tablet then decided to boot up OK! And continues to power off/boot OK since.
Any explanations very welcome!
regards, Clive

After about 10 poweroff/poweron cycles, I could then no longer get it to power on. Attempts to connect USB would fail with 'device failure' on the PC. Connecting charger would always show the charge icon OK. Leaving the charger in, and suddenly after a minute or so the 770 booted just fine all by itself! (no buttons pressed to make it do this). Battery icon still shows 4 full bars - it had been on charge for 2 hours prior.

So what could possibly prevent the unit powering on to the NOKIA logo screen when pressing the power button? Bad battery? Faulty unit? Bug in 3.2006.49-2 ?

I wonder where Mapper stores its "Track" data whilst you are in motion - internal ?

Mmm.....since my last reflash I havn't had Mapper installed - I did put VNC on though and havn't had any issues since. Mapper wilkl go back on anytime soon.
