Do emulators count? I'd pay good money for a fully working PSX, N64 and GBA emulators.

That is WAY too much, one could get 2 nice shiny games for PC for that kind of money.

I would pay a decent amount, say, 25E for a port of a game I like. Like WC3 or Startopia. Startopia would rule so much with a touchscreen.

It's not like they wouldn't play, I had both these games run on a PC at 800 MHz on an Athlon (true, with a video card), some of them even do software rendering and OpenGL natively. Some, like Alpha Centauri, have images in PCX and texts in .txt in he game folder, all the EXE does is implement rules and compute turns. Still, at 800x480 (or less) it could be doable even for the big stuff.

I guess my vote is none then. There is NO way I'm shelling out that kind of money for a portable game. That is how much I'd feel my entire lineup of software is worth and I have like 50 installed.

I think you're wrong to equate this kind of money to software. You should take hardware into account. E.g., for 100E (ish) I could get my hands on an older, locked-to-some-odd-carrier IPhone and use that to play a hoard of silly games. Or an older phone. Or a PSP.

Last I checked, a brand new shiny PSP, fully accessorized, is about 180E. A second hand would net me a device and maybe some games. heck, I'd pay extra for games from a guy upgrading. For a bucks more you could actually get a true game platform.

Finally, why would anyone try a triple-what-EA-(over)charges technique? If you want cash, get something a lot of people like and charge 3E. I'd bet you could get 100 people to pay 3E but you will not get 3 people to pay 100.

For a port of WC3, I'd pay the full price for a normal WC3.
The port had to be fully optimized for touchscreen & the n900 though.

You guys are nuts! I travel a lot - I do not own a laptop - I own a Samsung Q1U UMPC.

Link: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/o...ail&returnurl=

I have been into mobile tech for a LONG time (since the 90's). With my UMPC I have Windows XP installed and Starcraft, Warcraft III, Hitman 1/2, and Vampire. Along with a bunch of other programs such as a torrent client, Adobe Master CS3, MS Office 2003, etc.

When I get back home - I just hook up my UMPC to a 19" display and have an extended desktop.

Problem: Q1U cannot fit in my pocket.

The way I see it is that it is almost impossible to play a first person shooter with a touch screen device such as the Q1U or N900, however - Starcraft, Warcraft III, Hitman, Vampire, are all a joy to play on my Q1U.

The N900 and my UMPC's hardware are not that drastically different in terms of processing power - there is no doubt that the N900 could handle everything that my Q1U could if it was ported to it.

If my favorite games (seriously, I don't play many games - they are all from around 2000) were on my N900 - I could easily just hook it up to a hotel rooms TV and go to town with a PS3 controller.

I NEVER pay for software (I will state that very clearly) if you disagree you can watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcOdNc_seyM

This isn't so much as paying for software, it is paying for a new way to be mobile. I would gladly shell over the cash for my favorite games, I can play them anywhere, at anytime, it would be great. I think the touch screen based games such as Starcraft, Warcraft III, Vampire, and Hitman 1 would be the best.

I would gladly shell out $250 for ability to play my favorite games of all time anywhere and everywhere.
