I think that I am having the exact same problem, but just to verify - my Nokia boot screen has paler vertical blue lines running from the letters from top to bottom of screen. After bootup, the desktop looks relatively OK because of no bold colors. But, when I go to a website or program screen that has a section of bold/bright colors, I get the vertical "bleeding" of that color from top to bottom of screen. Is this classic WSOD symptoms? ie. nothing I can do but try for refund or exchange? It occured about as you might expect - after 20-ish boot cycles.

TIA

stewp6340 - sounds like a WSoD to me.

Refund/replace/repair are your only options - there is nothing you can do to fix this yourself.

Well of course except buying LCD part and replace it yourself :-)

Funny thing is that with current n770 price the display can be more expensive than new device http://www.handyersatzteilshop.de/a_...7242784__.html

Were expansys good for returns? My 770 just WSOD today and I just sent them an email. It is only 4 weeks old with no hardware mods, knocks or scratches.
Very annoying as everything else I read about reliability of these devices was good and I have been trying to get away from screen following my last 4 psion devices dying of cracked screen cables.
Then again it might be a good reason for me to look at an N800 :-)

FYI Expansys just replied with a return authorisation in under 30 minutes. Very good service.

How are you guys able to get Nokia to fix the WSOD(those that bought from buy.com)? My Nokia 770 (bought last month from Buy.com) got the WSOD earlier this week and I emailed Nokia through this link and I got this email in return:

Thank you for e-mailing the Nokia Care Contact Center.

We understand that the screen of your Nokia 770 Internet Tablet is blank and that you would like to repair it.

We are unable to duplicate the problem you are experiencing with the screen your Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. The Nokia limited warranty extends only to the original purchaser ("Consumer") of the Product and is not assignable or transferable to any subsequent purchaser/ end-user. As products purchased through online e-commerce stores such as Buy.com are purchased from other consumers, the warranty would be voided.

We recommend contacting your place of purchase for information regarding the repair of your Nokia 770 Internet Tablet.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Am I out of luck? What can I do? Thanks

Huh???? Since when does buy.com resell products from other consumers? They are not ebay, wasn't this product brand new in unopen packages? Looking on buy.com's web page it states that Nokia is responsible for repairs. I would call up Nokia and rip them a new one with this email, they are breaking some serious laws here. I would also call up buy.com and do the same, they state on their web page that Nokia is responsible for repairs yet Nokia is tell you they are not.

You need to be a squeaky wheel here, if he product was brand new in an unopen package it is covered under warranty.

Just adding my 2c - my 770 experianced exactly the same WSOD yesterday. I'm contacting Expansys to see what can be done.

Nokia really should step up and get these units replaced with the minimum of hassle.

I'll let you know how I get along.

Cheers,
Raj.
