I’m thinking of buying an n900, but I’ve seen a few videos and read some reviews and it looks complicated to use. I have no idea about coding and all that, so it will only be used from calls, texting, internet etc and maybe a little of customisation. But anyway, is it as hard as it looks or is it easy to use once you get used to it? And overall is it a good phone?

Hi, there are plenty of threads about this on forum , use search option to find. IMO if you want a phone that just works with all cool features advertised out of the box dont buy N900 there are things that will annoy you and take time adjust

Hello Nathan. Welcome to the forums.

Tough but common question. Perhaps you can tell us some more information.

What phones are you using now? What are you used to?
What in the n900 caught your eye?

Most of the operations in n900 are in Landscape? are you ok with that? (Phone will work fine upright)

View the n900 as a mini computer. The interface is a lot closer to computer than it is to a phone.

If you want a phone. Stay away

I don't mean to sound rude. But you should've searched. There are lots of threads like this one.

IMO it is a great device. Others will tell you it sucks. Search for the threads and see the opinions there.

worth it to me
I gave my Windows 7 Ultimate laptop to my brother after i got this device. it truely cut down on my computer usage by heaps.

I used it while i'm in bed (winter here) so I won't get my hands frozen , I can't do that with the laptop.

it's probably safe to buy. it's not like you HAVE to go to the command line or whatever you are worried about. overall, i'd say the ability to customize and extend the operating system outweighs the glitches. it's at least supported by nokia still, and it should have a good resale value if you decide to sell it. these things are like computers, you don't need cell phone service on them really.

I've always had nokias due to ease of use and its what I'm use to, currently I'm using a n96. The reason why I want the n900, is because its fast, looks good, its different (maemo, not symbian), you can view web page just like on a computer and the many different things that can be done with it.
My main concern is that it looks complicated to just "move" around the phone and different features and like you said, a lot of things are landscape, but I think i cold get use to that.
