google bbc radio url.
i found radio 1 to 5.
bbc radio 1 address is:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1.asx
radio 2 is r2.asx and so on to radio 5 live is r5l.asx
Think you need to make sure you havema tv licence though.

no tv license needed for radio any more! 
i generally go to the radio station website, stream from there and the media player will offer to save the station url for you.

Depends what you mean by Radio 1. Quite a few european countries have a Radio 1.
If you mean UK then it is easily accessible via the BBC website within the UK bit is not available outside the UK

another good place, where I get all of my internet stations for any topic is: www.shoutcast.com
They have radio stations from almost all over every country in the world. They too give an option to either stream or save to your n900 ... hope this helps, good luck!

thanks for the help guys i have been streaming from the website but something i read got me thinking about my unlimited inter net on my phone i.e is it really unlimited!!
