Apparently PR1.2 Time zone settings are wrong.
UK is GMT +1 instead of GMT, Europe is GMT +2 instead of GMT +1, etc...
This lead to synchronization problems with remote servers, Exchange, etc. and if synchronized alarms go off one hour in advance.
Workaround is to disable automatic Date and time update and select time zone one hour closer to GMT.
Did anyone else notice this problem?

I thought this existed in prior to PR1.2.

According to the clock Reykjavik, Iceland is GMT +0.

I have a suspicion this happened after day light hours chnaged this year.

It should be GMT. Daylight savings should change time, not the time zone. I'll report it as a bug.

What?
It is the timezone that changes. On 28th March the timezone in the UK switched from GMT to BST, and on 31st October itll switch from BST back to GMT again.
That's just how daylight savings works, the timezone for the UK showing GMT + 1 is correct, as currently we're 1 hour ahead of GMT.

Thats a known "bug", but its not a bug.

the tzdata on the firmware is old, so it mess up the timezones randomly by the daylight saving settings.

read THIS: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=141380&postcount=5

but download an updated tzdata file, because the post is old

The timezone for Karachi, Pakistan is usually GMT+5 but on my N900, it shows GMT+6. I think it is because of this that msgs that I receive from my friend (who is also in Karachi) show a time stamp of one hour ahead. So I sent a msg at 11:45, I get a reply at 11:48 but it shows 12:48.

Does anyone have a workaround for this? clasificado, do you know where I could find an updated tzdara file?

This was exactly the same on one of my old Nokia`s, E60 i could never use the "Update automatically" because it sets GMT+2 (Oslo, Norway). Yes its the same in pr1.1/1.2
