I would pay $20 or so for a game I like.

Does someone wanna bring Patapon to our beloved N900s?

I started this thread for a few reasons;

People who buy mobile gaming devices spend around ~$300 for the device and ~$50 per game. Personally, I am not a young guy. I have never plaid Call of Duty Modern Warfare. I remember playing Goldeneye and PC games from the year 2000 (give or take).

The N900 I believe has the hardware to run great games. If some of my favorite games get ported and work as they should, I have no problem paying a couple hundred bucks.

I am not saying that I am going to pay for most games, I won't but the games I loved to play 10 years ago are the games I still love to play today, when I am on an airplane or waiting in a doctors office.

I have given a few donations for a couple of applications and games for the N900 and I want to let developers know that if they port/remake/reimagine old loved games for the N900 they will not only be doing the community a service, but they will be getting paid as well.

I will say this right now: To anyone who comes up with a playable (good FPS, no bugs, doesn't crash, etc.) port/version of Goldeneye, Starcraft, Warcraft III, Hitman 1, Alice, and/or Vampire.I will GLADLY donate $300. As I am sure many others would.

In retrospect the N900 most likely has more power than the desktops I was playing those games on 10 years ago.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I flew out to NYC a week before I needed to be in the city to stop by the Nokia Flagship store and pick up one of the first N900s. I have no problem paying for someones hard word if I am enjoying the fruits of their labor.

As for the gamers out there that have a long list of games (unlike my self my list is short), I encourage you to donate if one of your favorite games has been ported.

I'm sure the community, myself included, would pay for well executed ports/original games - just look at the "Zen Bound" threads (although it seems some people are having installation/stability problems).

However, paying on the order of a hundred dollars is not realistic. I think ten dollars is the upper limit per download on other devices (that is, for an app that will appeal to the masses). We shouldn't compare the N900 market to that of a Nintendo DS or PSP, etc, but to other smart phones (aka iPhone, android phones, etc.). Realistically, that is where our beloved device is in the market.

It's obvious to me that developers know that games modified for maemo will have a smaller impact (hence profit) than other platforms, At the same time, it should be noted that our community is much more active and involved than others, and I think more likely to notice games, whereas in other markets one more game could be overlooked.

To summarize: Devs, make games for us, we will eat them up!

This. As similar to the arcade version as possible. Would suit a touch screen very well. Proximity sensor to duck, tap to shoot.

I'd very much like to play Fallout 1 and 2 on my N900. So if anyone would make that happen, I'd be willing to donate some $$$.

yes i *really* did laugh that much, heres a hint for n900 fanboys, DONT bring up the iphone when comparing the n900 apps.

*why* have such a STUPID fantasy thread such as this, like who the hell is going to develop games for the n900, none of the mainstream devs thats for sure.

Like $100 OMG !!!!!! that smaks of desperation !!!!

The fun thing about zen bound is how pixelated it looks on the iPhone )
Do all 3D games look just as bad?

But seriously, you must be a sad panda to have 92 trolling posts. Keep it up
