and i don't really know but i would say that the best samples, which is able to use starving on 1150Mhz, would be maybe 20-25%, it would be appreciated if all who reached 1150 tell me if they were able to use starving on it, thanks all, i am just a curious dude

Started with overclocking yesterday, with hilarious results.

Background info: back in PR 1.1.1, I had an issue where the CPU would lock at 50%+ usage with no apps open. I managed to avoid the problem by eliminating practically all widgets.

Anyway, I read a few threads, jakiman's excellent guide and started with the 'ideal' profile with limits = [250, 1100].

The results were GREAT! I could finally watch Youtube, and basically any video site with absolutely no jerkiness or lag. The whole system became much more responsive and fluid.

I tested stability by about 35 minutes of non-stop web video watching. Not shockingly, this drained the battery by 15% or so, and the phone heated up (don't have the temperature module yet, but it was quite warm to the touch).

Coincidentally, I had installed the excellent 'Desktop Activity' app, and euphoric, I created a Widget Heaven profile (pretty much all the widgets that would fit in 4 screens). Satisfied with the layout, I reverted to my original desktop layout and left the phone idle. At this point, the remaining battery was 75%.

I came back to a drained phone: BatteryGraph showed the 50% CPU bug, and the steepest linear drop I've ever seen - and this must be some sort of record: the phone went through 75% of the battery in 2 hours.

My next settings to test: Starving at 1000Mhz.

Mine is at 500-900 lv, but I intend to try to hit 1150 for 24/7 usage. I think my CPU is quite lazy, 'cause I can't even run default speeds (250-600) at 'ideal'.

I haven't overclocked (yet), mostly because my battery already requires two charges a day (~7hours/charge). This is fine most days because I can charge off my laptop, etc.,but when I'm out on weekends it rarely lasts unless I use it sparingly.

My questions is, how has OCing affecting battery life?

The theory is, it can boost your battery life, now Nokia's default kernel is 250-600MHz using 1.075-1.350V, if you used the ideal profile, it will be 500-850MHz using 0.975-1.200V, so actually, since you are using lower voltages, it will help boost your battery, not to mention since your device will be more responsive, it will do most of its processes faster so it will take less time doing them thus saving energy.

Ofc, you can go commandos with the battery saving, set the profile to XLV and enable 125Mhz (which uses 0.850), more on that stuff here:

I'm running my N900 @ 1GHz and I love it ok it becomes very warm when playing games.

To O/C, download the following from the application manager:

-rootsh
-Enhanced Linux kernel for power users
-Enhanced Linux kernel for power users (settings)

Reboot, go to xterm and type this:

sudo kernel-config load ideal

This will O/C to 500-850MHz, to get back to the default clock:

sudo kernel-config load default

To overclock more:

sudo kernel-config limits XXX YYY

were XXX is your min clock and YYY is your max clock (e.g. 500 950), for more info, look at the links in my post above, cheers.

Mine is 250/900 lv. Loading Ideal and everything above 900MHz reboots the phone.
But I'm pleased with it at 900.
And finally figured out how to quick change the overclocking with the QB app.
