The upgrade for the Ovi Store version is not out. You can't update the Ovi Store version (final) with a beta. The ovi store version can only be updated to 1.1 final.

You are stating what is already known.
This does not explain why I can't remove the program and catalog and still not be able to then install 1.1 RC.

The instructions (most of them) in the post by elektr00n worked for me. The apt-get stuff would not work, but I was able to install anyway. Install rootsh first.

And see your first post. Why chime in if you don't know what you're talking about?

Okay, here is a step-by-step how to:
  1. go to programmanager, install rootsh and uninstall firfox/fennec
  2. in programmanager go to cataloge and disable the "Ovi" and the "Mozilla multi Catalog" if existent
  3. if you did not have the "Mozilla multi Beta Catalog" visit http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/beta
Maybe the install works, if not go on
  4. close the programmanger elsewise the apt-get commands won't work
  5. open an xterm
  6. enter command: sudo gainroot
  7. enter command: apt-get clean all
  8. enter command: apt-get update
  9. enter command: apt-get install fennec (you can also try to install via programmanger)
  10. now you can safly enable the ovi catalog again in programmanger
