I love your questions man... they're so thought provoking... as paradoxical as your name

Edit: seriously though...
I think it's because the softwares that's going to be mastered on the CD is moving too fast anyway... and broadband internet is getting so much faster, cheaper, thus more common... so it wouldn't be a big deal for people to just get the absolute latest version of software directly from Nokia.

(Plus, this way they can get some statistics of when/where you're grabbing their software/updates from).

It's an Environmental Feature:

From: http://www.nokia.co.in/find-products...l-features-ecs

Environmental features Back to top

Electronic user guide in device, only Get Started leaflet in the box

For me there are two main reasons:
1. Environmental - care of the nature with less waste - CD, paper, etc.;
2. Because the software into CD always is a old version - these days there are very short time period between software updates - not only for mobiles, but also for Suites - for connection between mobile and PC.
Anyway - I do not miss this old feature - CD.
Regards.

I bought a N900, not a PC. The Manual is anyway on the Device and the first steps on paper in the package.
