Or, install the segfaulting version, and then do dpkg -i with the working one. The first installation would then have installed all dependencies.[/QUOTE]

I reflashed my N900 and it reinstalled Wesnoth plus the relevant data files from backup, is there any detail as to how to get the above method working please?

Hi all! Hope it hasn't already been said before. BTW recently I'm having a problem that prevents me from playng Wesnoth.

If I launch the game from menu I get a dark screen with the Wesnoth's upper bar loading but after a few seconds the application crashes. Launching Wesnoth through x-terminal I get this screen:

Code:
BusyBox v1.10.2 (Debian 3:1.10.2.legal-1osso30+0m5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

~ $ wesnoth

User configuration directory: /home/user/.wesnoth1.6

MAEMO: forcing 800x480
MAEMO: forcing small_gui

I already tried to remove, clean and re-install the program with no result.

Can anybody help please?
Thanks )

mece already explained the problem:

http://www.hedwerks.net/stuff/wesnot...emo7_armel.deb

That one works fine for me. I will try to figure out what the problem is later.

Since I haven't fixed the data package yet, follow these instructions to link the data to the correct place:
assuming you have the currently available data package available.
from xterm:
Code:
root
mkdir /opt/wesnoth/share
cd /opt/wesnoth/share
ln -s /opt/maemo/usr/share/wesnoth wesnoth

...works fine for me. You need http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/rootsh/ to work as root.

unfortunately no. But I did make a version that links the thing properly, especially for you

do this:

install wesnoth from app manager
after you're done, click this link:
http://hedwerks.net/stuff/wesnoth_1....emo8_armel.deb

choose "open with app manager" and install from there.

After that Wesnoth should run.

JUPITERS COCK!!!

It worked. Thanks mece, this is my fave game on my 900 so being able to play again is superb.

An elegant solution too I might add.

Hmm, I wonder if there's a way to speed up the dialogue. It's annoying since it comes up so slow that it goes away before I read it since I clicked somewhere else.

You definatly have to take a chilled approach to play this game. It will make a small click/beep noise when it is your turn to move your units......I dont touch the screen (other than skipping dialogue) untill I've heard this.
