Hello.

I've had the N900 for a couple of months, but I am new to the maemo-talk and to the applications.

I have some questions regarding the N900.

When I first bought it, I could easily copy some programs ( file extension : .install ) to the phone and easily install it. What I installed was "conversation box".

Now the problem is, if I want to install something through the phone, using filemanager / program manager. It asks me for an internet connection. It doesnt let me install the program without passing the internet selection.

What to do? I can't even install rootsh

Thanks in advance for the help I get.

Extra note ; doesn't work even with internet connection.

Extra question ; When using Nokia Pc Suite, I can't install programs through it either. It says it can't find my phone even though I can copy files and do every other thing.

.install files are just links to repository location of the application. The simplest way possible to install an app is to start App Manager, enable/add desired repositories and install from the App Manager itself.

It will, of course, require an internet connection to download .debs...
