Kontorri, thanks for all your efforts in continuing to improve this great app.

I am using MC v1.43 on Vista, one small problem is that the first 40 secs of the file are missing. Is there anything I can do to rectify this, please?

I have read through many previous posts but no one else seems to experience this.

BTW it was the same with v1.42. Could it be a Vista issue do you think?

Sounds like it might be a vista issue then. As I don't have vista myself, I'm unable to debug it. Perhaps you could try to download mencoder from the mplayer.hq site and replace the currenct mplayer with that exe and see if it helps.

I went to the mplayer site but it is all a bit daunting for me, though from what I can see the files are dated 2006 so unlikely to be more recent.

Also I tried to install Media Converter 1.42 and 1.43 on my XP computer but it won't run. The terminal window flashes up, closes down and that is it.

I think I am a bit of a dead loss on this subject but thanks anyway.

You need to install java on your XP in order to run media converter. You can do so fro http://java.sun.com/getjava

Kontorri, you have the patience of a saint.

Java did the trick and MC runs and converts perfectly on my XP computer.

So it would seem that the missing first 40 secs could be a Vista issue.

400x240 not working on my 770 says “resolution not supported”

Hi,
I am getting this error message “video resolution not supported” when I try to run any video converted with memcoder using the Optimal 400x240 resolution.
My 770 is new, unhacked but has about 8 programs installed.
I don’t know if it should work, or if others have had this problem, of if somehow the video doesn’t work because if was processed with DVD Decryptor and autoGK first?

Or maybe the 770 doesn’t support “400x240” as it says here?
“The limits are at about 800 kbps or 400x240 (352x288 on the Nokia 770).” – maemo wiki

Any ideas is appreciated. I tried to search in the forums but didn’t see this mentioned. I am learning the converting process and have read every forum, maemo, media coder forum and anything I can find. (thanks for the helpful advice on converting that is already in the forum).

By the way, any of you used a Cowon A2 before? It’s a dream for movies, you can even zoom in when watching, but its just a PMP movie player, plus MP3 and a few things. Not hackable. And about $300. I had one and my wife put it though the washing machine. : )
So now I have a 770, which I love so far. hmm.. this is off topic.
