@russell_t did you also try playing a video as well?
I'll try to reproduce this as well. After the battery-drain I recharged my N800 & uninstalled MediaBox. Left the tablet to idle & the battery was still in good shape after 24 hours. I'll reinstall & try again later today.

@addison I viewed several YouTube videos but was unable to see my 2nd SDHC card to view any of the video content I have stored on it.

Thanks pycage for including us N8x0 users.

Automatic media indexing uses Tracker on the N900 and Metalayer Crawler on the N8x0. Metalayer Crawler does not scan for images. You can however navigate to the Pictures folder in the filesystem and tap and hold on it to open the popup menu where you select "Scan for Media".

Manually scanning for media is always possible if you don't want to wait for Tracker/Crawler to discover new stuff, or if you want to quickly index stuff not indexed by those.

What exactly do you mean by "my own shoutcast radios"?
You can place radio stations on the shelf or put them into a playlist to have not always browse the whole shoutcast directory.

Do you mean without the film strip frame?

Yep, thought the same today. I'm gonna fix it.
EDIT: fixed in SVN

This would be great, yes. I assume it needs HTTP cookie support.

@pycage: Everything tuns perfectly on the new mediabox on the N900 but my only gripe is that the press-and-hold popup menu comes out to quickly when I scroll through my folders. Is there a way to change the timing for it?

Ah, I am greatly relieved to discover this. As you probably know, many Diablo users have Metalayer Crawler disabled for alleged performance reasons or b/c it simply stopped working (there is an infamous "Fixed in Fremantle" bug). Also, I have all my music on a USB thumb that I attach and reattach. So manual scanning is the only way for me. BTW, Mediabox has handled my 30GB music library quite well in the past.

I will add my thanks to you for remembering the Diablo crowd and my kudos for a truly outstanding app.

hmmm.... that and more.

On a single screen, you have:
* Mediabox's Toolbar
* a "Page 1", "page 2" browser bar
* and four videos, thumbnails, etc.

YouTube Mobile has on one screen:
* Search bar (that rolls off the screen)
* and 3 videos, thumbnails, etc.

I.E. each video entry is given quite a bit more screen real estate on YouTube's layout.

Also, they use a blue font and a black font on a white background.
I think this also makes it easier to read.

I'm sure you can not duplicate the YouTube screen layout.
But I thought you might want to do a comparison for yourself; and see if you can get some ideas on making it easier on the eyes.

thanks,
Kevin

thank you for the update!

yes pycage, i had the same problem as russell_t after updating mediabox. when i minimize mediabox, do something else, then go back and close mediabox, the music still plays until i open mediabox again and close it.

also, i can no longer play MOV files.. i even downloaded the new decoders support but Mediabox and the built in media player both wont play the videos i used to play before i updated..

Can you help please?
Other than those, everything is great, loving the portrait mode too!

I've just upgraded to the new version of Media Box on my N810, but when I start it up, nothing happens. I can see that 'python /usr/bin/MediaBox' is running, but it never appears on screen. I've tried removing all the media-box related add-ons I had before, and removing and reinstalling several times, but to no avail. I've also had the battery go flat very quickly a few times since installing it, which I see is also a known problem.

Is there any way to install the previous version, which worked fine for me? I'm about to fly to the US, and I was planning to watch some videos on the plane.

You can install the previous version from here: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p...ee/m/mediabox/

But before doing so, please try to run MediaBox from X-Terminal and let me know if there are some error messages.
The flat battery makes me believe that MediaBox starts, but hangs somewhere during startup, and staying in this state.
