Be careful out there. Spies are everywhere. Watch your back.

Peace out.
Thanks a lot for sharing

See i'm talking about normal users who wants an App with a good looking GUI and simple to use(clicking,selecting...).

What you said is absolutely correct...u can hide files by that method....

What all Apps that has been created in Xtras can also be done from command line itself without the App....do u agree with me?

Then why do we create these eye candy Apps with Good looking UI for the same....???its for simplicity....
Not everyone can open Xterm or browser to unlock their files every now and then to view it.

No disrespect but You have to take it in consideration that there are many users who does'nt know Linux but baught the n900 as there were crazy about it......

And its not that i'm unfaithful to my girl friend....even she has a folder lock on her 5800....we just hide our romantic msgs and cute photos of us just for us to see(if you know what i mean)

its just that some people like privacy

i was going to say thats exactly what i needed it for, but i held back and let you have the honours!! haha

but yeah considering the n900 needs charging quite alot and is often sitting around the house near a plug socket... people seem to have the tendancy to be nosy (sharing house with a mate and often other people are round)

Granted, can't disagree with you, but bear in mind that I come from a strictly Windows based environment and I am certainly not a linux guru by any stretch of the imagination. To the best of my knowledge the N900 is (and has always been touted as) a developers handset - which, had I known previously, I may have thought twice before investing in one - and as such it isn't full of eyecandy apps and slick GUI's.

Linux runs from the shell and command line interface.

Welcome to the N900.

PS - you can also call a folder "Private" and move your personal effects in there - it will show in File Manager but not in any of the standard media applications. This can be done directly on the phone using either Xterm or File Manager.

YMMV in requesting an app with a slick GUI for something as simple as this but good luck.

Dude i found that your response/posts in many of the other threads are like this only....

People use different colours to stress the main points...dont you know that???

If you want to add some points in the post do that:cool:

Dont you have any other job than banging on other peoples opinion????

do something usefull
thanks for this, I won't be doing anything to this issue.

Learn how to behave and your requests will be listened. Now probably most developers just ignore you because of bumping thread and using stupid colours.

and btw I don't need such an app because I can modify one python file and I have hiding utility for SMSes etc....

1st of all i think i behaved in a proper manner......everyone can see how you responded to every other user's posts......dats what considers to be rude....and thats why i said the same........

so if you dont wanna help its fine....i think maemo community or n900 can survive if it does'nt get just one person's ideas...

There are good developers who thinks reasonably by seeing what i posted....Let them decide what needs to be done

one way or the other its getting done dude....

Not a bad suggestion at all.
If I'm not mistaken, most Samsung phones have this as a standard feature. So indeed; why doesn't our N900 internet tablet have this?

its a great idea but you can lock your whole phone witgh a password.mine is locking down after 30 minutes and you cant get into the phone to deinstall somethiinkeven if you switch off the device(by taking the battery or sim out)you got to enter your password so i think its a great solution for my opinions.

and btw
CIA is watching me too

The auto lock which we have on our n900 is good(better if we can specify our own time limits for when to auto lock)
minimum 3mins is a real pain...most phones have time ranging from 30 secs to several minutes....

its not good to wait for auto lock to happen after 3mins(a bit long)

But you see the problem is our n900 is a SEY device that any one who sees it wants to play with it....so then there should be some privacy for our personal files....dont you think?????

so it'll be great if we can get an App that can lock/hide files so that we can store all our personal/valubale details/data hidden/locked.

we can let any one play with this monster as long as we are in total control of this BEAST.....

If some one wants to access our personal files the n900 must get the permission from its MASTER...
