I was able to install skype on the latest OS2007 HE.
skype started and was showing the skype screen. But not response to any touch, then killed by the system.

You can download skype for n800 from here

or add the repository and install skype-ui

It seems that most libraries used by skype work. Please have a try to see if we can hack it.

I hate to be rude... but any headway on making skype (just chat would be fine for me) work on the 770/2007HE?

No, I don't think so. What is wrong with using Gizmo? Seems to work just fine...

Presumably the problem's that the people Gerbick wants to talk to are on Skype?

Sounds like you should sell your 770 and get an N800. LoL.

hahaha. that really describes me as well. just wish that the n800 had a cover like the 770 for my accident-prone self.

I have/use Gizmo as well as Pidgin - one or the other - have an IPKall # directed to my Gizmo install... but I have some business and friend contacts on Skype that aren't anywhere else.
