I have also a lot of problems with streaming. Sometimes it's stops playing after 30 seconds, and sometimes it stands up to a hour. I have the problems with wifi and 3G.

I can confirm that same bug exists in my N900 handset with PR 1.2.

With internet streams the media player just stops after while when screen is dimmed (power save). Media player it's not able to resume until the handset is resumed to "screen on" -state.

When the device is plugged to power, problem still persists.

I guess this is related to power save features of handset. Adjusting power save settings on 3g/Wifi APN settings does not help.

I'm sure this is not stream dependant, because it happens with all internet radio stations that are in media player.

I think I have same kind of problem..

I have mpd server streaming music at home and I listen to it using N900 often when going home from work. On previous PR 1.1 this did not happen, but happens quite often on PR 1.2. Using 3G network.

If someone wants to try the same route , here's what I have noticed that has happened at least couple of times:
- I leave work - I work at the Cable Factory, Ruoholahti, Helsinki, Finland
- when I'm at the elevator (staircase C), I'll start the stream about when elevator reaches street level
- I walk through the yard
- player stops when I turn at the end of building towards the tram stop, I'll press play and music continues
- I walk to Ruoholahti metro station
- player stops again when I'm at escalators downwards, halfway down. Again I just press play and stream continues
- after that I don't remember the player stopping for the rest of the trip. There are couple of spots where player re-buffers stream as 3G network drops out, but from these the player recovers successfully.

One thing to note is that I also open ssh connection when leaving work and that stays open at least through the beginning of trip where media player stops, so that rules out IP address changing at least. I think my IP address has changed at least sometimes after going through the spot where 3G network does not work and that does kill the ssh.

I do have headphone daemon installed (and other stuff too, too many to list here).

mpd audio out settings:
Code:
audio_output {
        type "httpd"
        name "My Stream"
        encoder "lame"
        port "8000"
        bitrate "192"
        format "44100:16:1"
}

It is a nightmare, I use kmplayer in the meantime but that is not a great player although it is the only way I can get streams to play without dropping out after a minute or so.

Did you vote for the bugs link I posted on page one? I get the sinking feeling from some of the comments on that page that the devs do not believe this is a bug even though according to their guidelines this bug is appropriate enough to be considered 'major'.

I see this has now been marked as a duplicate bug:

https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9009

(Please vote for this new bug)

However nothing really seems to be happening and the devs seem to be ignoring the problem possibly because it is not always easy to replicate. I have since abandoned the in-built Media Player and use kmplayer for internet streaming myself, but this is not really the point, the software Nokia shipped with the phone pre-PR1.2 worked fine, it now doesn't, they should fix it and I should not have to install third party apps to get a basic function of the phone to work again.

Is this still a problem for others? Two months on there are no fixes besides installing a third party player like kmplayer, surely there should be a fix by now?

Horrible isn't it, I think we are being forgotten about though and I cannot see this being fixed.

Try a player called mediabox which has an internet radio feature.

I found that this software has resolved this breaking up problem for me.
If necessary keep just one single station.
Good luck!

Thanks, but my gripe is the media player built into Maemo should work and the bug should be fixed. The bug (link below) has lost all following and does not seem to be worked on. I was fine on PR1.1, this has only been a problem for me since PR1.2.
