You fail to describe what problem you're trying to solve (apart from "I have nude pictures of my girl on it. *blush*") and from whom you want to hide your home made pr0n.
Also, keep in mind that the N900 wasn't designed to be a spook tool. SMS messages are stored in a data base and to hide some messages, you'll need to, as far as I know, hide them all.
Images are indexed for a reason so trying to hide them goes against the design.

Identify the attacker first and then look for solutions. I'll make a list and you can figure out what you actually want:
- Nosy "friend", no Linux knowledge
- Nosy "friend", with Linux knowledge
- Random person
Now to solutions:
- Lock your device by pushing the power button and selecting "to hide some messages, you'll need to, as far as I know, hide them all. Images are indexed for a reason so trying to hide them goes against the design.

Identify the attacker first and then look for solutions. I'll make a list and you can figure out what you actually want:
- Nosy "friend", no Linux knowledge
- Nosy "friend", with Linux knowledge
- Random person who finds your lost device
- Serious person who finds your lost device
- Serious person who steals your device
- The government (in the shape of border control)
- The government (in the shape of the police)
- The government (in the shape of a special branch)
Now to solutions:
- Lock your device by pushing the power button and selecting "Secure device"
- Place your sensitive data in a not obvious place
- Create a directory with a name starting with "."
- Place your data in an archive (zip, tar.gz, rar)
- Place your data in a password protected archive (zip)
- Place your archive in a not obvious place
- Encrypt your data (PGP, GPG)
- Create an encrypted file system as a file to be mounted and save your data there
- Create an encrypted file system as a partition that has to be mounted and save your data there
- Create an encrypted file system inside an encrypted file system to create some kind of plausible deniability
Also, keep in mind that the N900 wasn't designed to be a spook tool. SMS messages are stored in a data base and to hide some messages, you'll need to, as far as I know, hide them all. Images are indexed for a reason so trying to hide them goes against the design.

However, the indexing can be circumnavigated ... the indexing tool won't search or index the contents of those directories. Your Nr0p is safe in there....
Ah well. Never mind. Guess I'll just have to keep the phone in my pocket then......

But what u said about creating a file using "." is a good idea.
But it'll be good if we have a nice GUI based App for this
so tell me are u going to do something about this App???

And then you'll have to wait much longer for your images to load, potentially turning your "tug of war" into a (more) miserable experience.
My comment about design was made to clarify that the functionality wanted in this thread wasn't part of how the device was planned to be used.
And this might actually be enough for 95% of the users...

Hmmmmmmmm......Dude i didnt say i keep my girl friend's nude pics in my mobile....dats sick...........i just wanted to keep my personal pics just to me.....and thats not home made porn

You can't create this file on the phone - you cannot create a file beginning with a "." in a linux environment (although I'm probably gonna get shot down for that one, it just seems to ring true from somewhere else is all), so it needs to be done in a Windows environment using Command Prompt and the mkdir command.
Will some one pls try to implement this App....i think many of us need this....
It will be great to have a secured feature like this
