Hello, this is my first post. I purchased a Nokia N900 a week ago and love it.
The only thing which gets on my nerves is that sometimes even the default included n900 video(Nokia_N900.mp4) on the device stutters when played by the default media player. This happens initially but after the stutter, the video is smooth. This is more frequent when the video is quit in the middle and the video is then played after a reboot.

Can anyone please try to reproduce the issue?
What is the solution to this?

Thanks!!

ok, I'm sorry. But my post went on page 2 while newer posts got answered sooner.
Anyway, thanks for giving me some hope that someone might help solve my problem.

Thread moved to Multimedia.

Make sure to post things in the right sub-forums to get "more specific" attention.

So in summation, when you initially start the video it stutters then it plays back fine?

Most of the time, yes. But at times it starts of fine and has like a random 1 second stutter later on. And, at other times the entire video is smooth.
Does anything similar happen in your case if you try repeatedly to play the included video, stop it in between , reopen media application and then play it back from where you left it?
Thanks!

The media player is quite memory hungry. Whe it stutters at the start, N900 is swapping out other crap to make room for media player. When you pause or ctrl-backspace out of the player, it frees a chunk of memory, whe you go back it gobbles up another chunk of ram.

So you have a bit of stutter too? The reason I want to know this is to make sure that my device has no defect(software wise), in which case i might have to reflash or contact nokia.

Yep.But if I'm playing many videos in a row, either I stop noticing stutter at start, or it stutters less.
