Maemo is dead, the question you might want to ask is what the future of the N900 is.

It will be a tinkerers device with a small (smaller than now) hardcore following within about 1 year. The *ooh shiny* device users will move on to the next latest and greatest. I plan on using mine mainly as a companion device after I get my next phone and will probably end up replacing it with a 5" - 7" tablet capable of running MyPaint.

Should you get a N900? Not if you want a future proof platform.
