Hello Everyone,

I appologize for the duplicate post, but I figured that tucking my question at the end of the vnc discussion might not be the right place for it.

I having a hard time connecting to a vnc server running on a debian box. I can access it from another machine on the wireless network, and checked to see that the appropriate ports were open on my router. Every time I try to connect through vnc viewer on the 770 I get the message "Could not connect to server".

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and made sure I was using the latest version. Any ideas as to a solution? I'm really wanting to use this to control a headless server attached to my stereo. Thanks.

Chris

Update: strangely, the vnc viewer on the 770 will work when paired with realvnc server on an xp machine. The xp machine will see the debian vnc server while the 770 will not. Anyone have any experience with setting up the vnc on linux to be seen by the 770?

I've fixed the problem - so in case you're trying to do the same thing, here's a link to the debian forum where I found the solution: http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.p...&highlight=vnc

I then changed the resolution to 800x480 by adding it like so:

5900 stream tcp nowait nobody /usr/bin/Xvnc Xvnc -inetd -desktop=Server -query localhost -IdleTimeout 7200 -geometry 800x480 -depth 16 -once securitytypes=none

Now when I use vnc viewer to log onto the machine it displays Xfce perfectly with no scroll bars. The little box hides behind my stereo and plays my media library to the speakers (it syncs to my media library on my desktop). As a bonus, I can use it to surf with a full firefox browser when I'm at home.

The only issue is now what media player to use. I wish that there were a version of Canola for linux on the pc, it would be way easier than using Murine or Rhythmbox.

One of the nicest things is being able to use pandora. It fits the screen really nicely.
