Latest version segfaults for me. Are there some data files lying around that I can try deleting?

some quick comments on the latest version:

- looking very polished, love the eye candy
- startup time is very slow
- using it on a 3g connection is killing your quota, probably for the never ending fetching of the album cover art
- CPU load is 60% at 950 MHz while playing ... a tad high I guess (but with speakers so with earphones it will be less thanks to the pulseaudio speaker protection)
- overall RAM usage is 77% but that's also depending on other processes loaded but not active.
- network activity : according to conky, almost constant 2 KB/s upload, 31 to 71 KB/s peak download.
- whole device feels very sluggish when being used
- severe lag pressing buttons (prev/next song etc.)

I have a small library of 1200+ songs on my SD card, no other programs open (apart from Conky). Availability is offline.

If the speed issues are solved, then this would be a very nice, usable (if some form of quick jumping, index char or keyboard based- to songs is there) player.

if most of the issues are temporarily (eg. fetching related), please provide some form of status indication to let the user know what's going on, why we feel we are running at 250 Mhz while I'm actually nicely overclocking ... ????

Also give an indication how many songs/albums it still will try to process, for my peace of mind

Please keep up the good work and address the speed issues first.

It's on the todo list but it's not high up. There are several approaches to doing gapless playback... doing that kind of processing on maemo seems like a waste of battery. We're currently thinking of offloading heavier computation onto the desktop. We have a mac alpha and will be rolling out win and linux versions too. Once those are solidified, we'll enable gapless playback from the desktop so that it works on maemo.

The speed issues are what we're working on now. At the moment it's the same code that's running on the desktop (completely unoptimized). We need to make a few bigish changes to improve memory and speed but we've got 2 and a half people working on it around the clock

That's probably more than what they have working on PR1.3.

:P

Hey Lisa, you're in the right place. We've ordered a pair of nokia bluetooth earphones to test with. We don't currently support bluetooth audio but I doubt very much it'll take us more than a day to get that in there for you. We need to fix speed/memory/bug issues first but this is one of the first things we'll get to when we start adding new features.

Installed this app to my N900 today. Uninstalled 15 minutes later. Too slow. I was not able to smoothly scroll list of albums/artists

did you let the application to scan all your musics through or did you begin to use the app immediately?

Started to use - if app needs time to do scanning etc then it should tell it to user. I use mediaplayer rarely and expect it to be usable.
