Hi,

I'm using Nokia QT SDK. Everything is fine and I'm happy with it. But now I got the wierd idea to publish my little program. So I decided to somehow get into extras-devel with it. Currently I'm struggeling with step 2 of the webbased upload process. Upload a .change file. I can't find a .change file in the directories the SDK creates. Only a "changelog".

Is there a way to get SDK and maemo-extras-devel to like each other?
Or are there easy alternatives (or guides)?

You could always google the structure of a .change file, create your own and use that. That's how I did it.

But I'm uploading using dput and not using the web based service.

You can use Maemo SDK..

I think Nokia Qt SDK is great but it's not complete so it's better to use Maemo SDK too.

Maemo SDK needs too much computation power. I only have a somehow low-end notebook, not a powerful desktop-pc/workstation.

I had it installed once but it was damn slow (as it is running in qemu or so) - using it is painful for me (booting up and starting a program took so long, that I did not want to really try anything).

Hm, maybe the non-vmware-maemo-sdk will do it... but sadly this is just a workaround and no answer to my original question. And I also was not able to figure out how a .changes file should look like (some google better than others ).

You don't have to run the program from scratchbox, just use it to make the source package needed for Maemo Extras Assistant.

Please report bugs for everything that's missing from the Nokia Qt SDK.

I have been trying to use Nokia Qt SDK to package my Qt app. However, at the moment it seems that using the Scratchbox environment (Maemo SDK) is the only possibility if you want to create a source package for upload to extras-devel using the Extras Assistant. The QtCreator version (2.0.0) included in the current Qt SDK does not e.g., take changes to the debian/rules etc. files into account (however, the latest 2.0.80 snapshot seems to fix this). There are still obstacles to using the Nokia Qt SDK for creating the deb package; for instance, there are problems with satisfying certain build dependencies needed for the autobuilder.

It was harder to find the Nokia SDK bug tracker than I would have imagined. So the URL to the tracker is
http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/secure/Dashboard.jspa

And there is already a bug filed regarding that topic
http://bugreports.qt.nokia.com/browse/QTCREATORBUG-1840

And currently I'm struggling with the maemo sdk - as I relied on nokia sdk. Now I need makefiles for the maemo sdk and it is not that easy to convert them from the nokia sdk to a running maemo sdk thing (for packaging).

This thread is demoralizing. Why can't people make tools that WORK for linux?

I'm sorry for starting it ^^.

For all looking for answers here:

I switched to Maemo SDK for packaging (with some minor problems http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=58684).
