That's going to be an option too

Multiple-instances are also in the todo list.

Can someone explain the right way to use this app? After installing and rebooting, I have a widget containing phone, web, conversation and contact on the desktop, but it doesn't work. Icons are not rotated in portrait mode and pressing the icon till it lights up does nothing.

Battery usage should be very low (I'm currently using it without problems) but it can be improved. I.e. it currently monitors rotation and rotates even when the widget is not visible which is not required.

Uncertainty about nattery drain is a reason why it is still in extras-devel. i.e. it needs testing (and I'm currently testing it 24/24).

just the answer I wanted to hear. I've been using DrLaunch since you uploaded and haven't seen any ill effects from a battery point of view. again thanks for the hard work and look forward to the new features planed.

hypothetically, is it possible to do the same for widgets?

Also, how would you search apps while in portrait mode? There is no portrait-mode keyboard.
Well the search would be with the hardware keyboard. It's something what I feel is missing, from the main application launcher. Though if you wanted to do portrait mode with a keyboard, there are applications (Horizontal Call, MyContacts, etc.. that do it). It could be added.

Same here.

Plus there are no settings

Also it is not listed as DrLaunch in the repositories. I found it by searching launch

It looks good though

**UPDATE**

After restarting the phone 3 times it now works.

It is a great app, just mirroring some other thought for improvements
1. Multiple instances
2. 8 x 4 configuration would be nice to fill the whole desktop

**2nd Update**

The widget has gone back to 2 x 2 for no apparent reason

The settings have disappeared again

This is a massive shame as this was such a sweet app!

this is great, but you have to long press the buttons for them to work...

Good idea as a widget. Sadly though it doesn't seem to work. Holding icons just starts the Editing (which is also missing from the widget) and icons do not rotate automatically, unless I use rotate.py. Understandable sort of, since it is still in Extras-devel.

Any suggestions? I've already rebooted thrice and that didn't solve the problem. I'll post my installed apps later on, if it's one of those which is interfering with it, though I doubt it.

EDIT : Alright, here we go. Please note that this is just paste of what can be found from /usr/share/applications/hildon:

Hello all,

A new version (0.3-1) is now available in extras-devel. I believe that it includes all requested and promised features. Changes are:
  • Don't repaint when not visible (power consumption improvement).
  • Provide option for individual icon rotation which in turn allows for non-rectangular size.
  • Provide option for disabling the long-press requirement.
  • Support multiple instances, taking care of desktop-activity-manager.
  • Bug fixes and cleanups.

Please check it against any requests/problems you had and report back.
