@jeep99

when you say DOA, you mean that they were bad from the time you bought them, possibly a manufacturing defect, yes?

what firmware rev were you running when the other card died? had you used usb for file transfers?

I can understand why someone would be irritated to the point of sarcasm over the issue, but does it really help, or just keep people inflamed?

Brendan,

All of my cards were fine out of the package (2gb sandisk ultra cards). Not imediately sure of the exact firmware rev. but it was from Febuary or March 2007 time frame. I never bothered udating to the latest one as the cards already have been corrupted. While I have made several USB transfers most of the data was added to the cards via directly installing the card in my laptop to transfer music and larger videos, via bluetooth for pics and pdfs and directly downloading pics and vids from the internet via wifi and bluetooth connection to my phone. As I stated in a previous post the unit is now resting comfortably in my junk drawer and doesn't come out to play anymore. It's too unreliable for my needs and really has turned out to be a disapointment.

My Adata 8gb sdhc class 6 card was fried with the 2007 updated OS. I have tried for two days, to have my Win XP card reader disk check for errors and also re-format. All I seem to get is the i/o error response. I have even tried using several third party disk recovery programs made for flash media, and none of them are able to access the card. Most times these programs freeze trying to access it. I don't care about what was on the card, it is all backed up on my pc. I just want my card reformatted, but it seems unrepairable.

Yes, it's been discussed in the other threads on the subject. Looking good so far...

This reminds me of the problem with 256M SanDisk cards on the Dell Axim X5.
Dell never admitted there was a problem. They blamed it on San Disk.
After many posts on the aximsite, a matrix was constructed.
Cards manufactured in china were failing, while cards manufactured in Japan were
more reliable.
SimpleTech cards were not failing. They used chips from a different manufacturer.

I burned up 2 SanDisk 256M cards before switching to SimpleTech, and had good
luck with Kingston too.

I have also had SanDisk USB memory sticks fail, while none of my Crucial, PNY, or
OCZ memory sticks have ever given me a problem. I don't buy SanDisk anymore.

I just want to report I've replaced my Transcend 8GB SDHC with Kingston 8GB SDHC and have had ZERO issues since owning it for a week. I've been using the card for swap, Maemo Mapper, and MP3s.

=)

Go with Kingston.
