Hey guys, stumbled across this today. It really put things into perspective on how the mobile platform market is currently. I'm not to sure when it was created but Maemo isn't listed.

It's interesting to compare but like anything on the internet its accuracy shouldn't be thought much of, theres no way the Apple store would even come 1/10th close in data to P2P, or even butTorrent on its own.

Well indexed content != Total downloaded content. Anyway they've probably don't checked private trackers and the like.

A quick search around and supposedly ISOhunt archives 10 petabytes of data in its torrents, I couldn't find one for thepiratebay but those two alone would over shoot the stat.

Then there's DC++ and all the other P2P networks which house tons more.

I know numbers mean nothing as quality > quantity but anyone know how many Maemo is sitting on exactly? Just to see where we would stand on the chart.

More importantly, Symbian isn't listed. Fail!

Are you asking how many apps Maemo has? There are currently 369 apps in Maemo Extras. Even more if you count Extras Testing and Devel.

Sorry to set the bar low, but I just thought it was interesting that our ONE phone with the exclusive Maemo operating system has 1/3 the number of apps that Windows Mobile has which runs on multiple phones. And I think if Extras Testing and Devel were included in the count then we would have more apps than Windows Mobile does.

The figures quoted for Windows Mobiles are only for the apps that are in Microsoft's (?) app store. It doesn't include the thousands that are in handago and developers' own websites.

your post made me realize something...the ovi store is supposed to be the place where I download apps for the N900, but the truth is I don't think I've downloaded a single app from there! all my apps come from maemo.org repos.

so really I suppose we have to compare ovi store to the other app stores and in that respect ovi pretty much ain't got sheet

well at least the N900 can run android...

Shows how unique the n900 is, we have a community vault instead.

Surely you've downloaded Angry Birds and the browsers and maybe panoramic. Nokia are missing out on a lot of revenue the way they they have handled things. I would have bought from the ovi store if it had paypal support.

Correct me if I'm wrong but most apps for Symbian are purchased usually from tele co. wap sites instead?

The ovi store isn't listed because it is irrelevant.
