Hi,

a week or two ago some parts fell out of my N900. See the picture. What parts are those? And what are they good for? Looks like my device still works .

Shall I request a new N900 from Nokia ^^?

Looks like the kick stand spring/lever off the battery cover, have a look at this thread:

Test if you camera works by opening the slide door.

Nevertheless, if you're still under warranty you can send it back for repair.

It's definitely the kick stand spring.

I would say the design of the kickstand is not upto the task.

The one on my N900 broke within a month of purchase.

Since one may not want to be without a phone as well as mobile email it's impossible to send the N900 back for repairs, the whole process may take a few weeks (atleast in the USA).

Your poor N900 is bleeding, what is that little black blob?

My guess is that at the Nokia assembly line they add a few extra parts here and there just to make it heavier in case you "brick" it (so that you still can use it as a paperweight). They think of EVERYTHING.

its this part from the back of your cover.

What have you done to brutally slaughter your n900 like that? thats like one of the hardest parts to break!

Okay, the kickstand is loose for quite a while. So it was broken for a long time.

So have you never thrown your phone against are wall or so ^^? Me neither, but one day in winter, when the streets were icy, I was out for geocaching. I was using the N900 as a GPS device. I looked on the N900 and didn't recognize the ice. So I slipped, the N900 fell off my hand and flew about 5 meters and dumped on the ground and slithered another 5 meters. I only recognized some tiny scratches (bought a Zagg shield after that event ). Maybe that was the time when kickstand spring got cracked.

And the black blob belongs to the spring I guess, as on the other pictures there are these black blobs on the spring.

If I would not have forgotten the spring at work, I would do some repair actions mentioned in the other thread. Thanks for all your help.

And the spring is not that important to order a new back cover.

15 e plus shipping would be probably better alternative than sending device to repair for weeks?
