Hello.

I know the Maemo system is based on debian and the apt-get repository is simple crap cause when it refreshes it takes a long time so when i install an app i have to sit there waiting on a screen that takes about 2-3 minutes to refresh its list.

this is simple and utter crap. is there a way around it?

and yes i do have other repos enabled because without them there simply isnt anything worth downloading.

you need to download faster application manager from extras devel, its is loads faster than the standard app man and you can download multiple apps, since i installed i haven't gone back to the standard one at all.

Geez. This is one of those things that just pisses me off about Nokia. If a dev can make an app manager that doesn't take 5 minutes just to refressh, WHY CAN'T NOKIA!

Sigh...

What's the point of having a community like this if the community doesn't come up with essential apps like Faster Application Manager? Nokia doesn't have to do it because the community does it.

Oh brother...here we go again.

When a company releases a product, it should work REASONABLY well. It shouldn't take a bunch or unpaid part-timers to get stuff to work properly. Especially since the Devs who make Faster App Manager and other useful apps may decide tomorrow that they are no longer interested in fixing bugs or updating his work.

He's not obligated to continue his work, and he probably has a real job. That means when he say's "i'm done" we're screwed.

So yes, Nokia should be making stuff work properly out of the box. If ONLY for the simple reason that I paid 400+ dollars for a finished product.

Last time I checked the Application Manager still worked "resonably well". Where's the rush anyway?
