Two question:
When you connect do you get asked for a Pre-Shared Key or for a PIN?

When you are connecting to your WLAN, the Wireless icon in the Status Bar is blinking, does it ever become solid? OR does it ask you again for your Pre-Shared Key or PIN?

LAN (Local Area Network) ie. your local network or wifi connection.
Could you access the internet with your laptop via the wifi?
Also, can you open terminal and run:
Code:
ifconfig
and post the results?

Why don't you post the make and model of your router. Their might possibly be some firmware update that can resolve your problem.

when your on wifi at home can you access the router from the n900 by typing in its ip adress. mine occasionally says its connected but wont access the router, restarting both helps.

You need to be root to use ifconfig. Else use "sudo ifconfig".
